Hi all! So in previous thread I was wondering whether to buy a half carat diamond for a pendant as I thought it may be too small, but having discussed it with everyone here iv decided no it won't be too small for everyday wear.
Now I need help finding the perfect pear! It's so hard find ideal proportions and minimal bow tie effect.
I prefer fatter diamond pears rather than the long thin ones and my budget for the diamond is around £1000 because the rest will be for the setting (18k white gold) total budget £1300-1400
I'd prefer to buy in the UK but I'm open to the USA as long as it fits within my budget (including customs/tax)

Here's the first diamond I have seen that I like, what do you all think!

Thanks in advance!

That's really pretty!

Just wanted to say......I saw your first post and never got around to posting but I have a .50 pear in a simple setting. I wear it with everything and love it. Can't wait to see yours.

Re: Can someone help me find a 0.50-0.60 ct pear shaped diam

Thanks! Iv asked a couple of vendors to find me the perfect pear so I hope to find the right one!

Why are round brilliants so much more expensive for an equivalent size/quality pear?

I believe it takes more rough to cut a good one? Plus it's more desirable.

Though are you open to a round? You'd e able to drop down in color to like a j in a round. That would save you some.

Re: Can someone help me find a 0.50-0.60 ct pear shaped diam

Im not against going for a round brilliant if i cant find a decent pear. However for a pendant i really want a pear diamond. I think they look pretty and elegant.

The three that Raccoon posted are all great. A yellow or orange with a halo can be stunning as a pendant, like this:

For white side-stones, the cost is actually pretty minimal, maybe $2000 a carat and you'd need maybe 15 points. This would add a lot of size and sparkle for not much money.

Lovely fancy stones although I'm looking for a colourless one! But thanks for the help.

Random question about RB would a hearts and arrow stone be worth it if it was 0.50 and set in a pendant.
I'm thinking if I can't find a nice pear is like a RB in H vs2 although for cut would a excellent be enough or shall I pay premium for hearts and arrows?

I'd just get a nice one. I wouldn't go H&A for that size. But that's just me. My e ring isn't h and a either.

Here is one with great color and a small white cloud or feather(I'm not sure what the correct name is). I actually had to let it spin around a couple of times to find it, so I don't think anyone would see it in real life. This one makes my heart skip a beat

This one has better clarity, but lower color.

Another one. The facets are so crisp.

Great color and clarity in one diamond. I did see a small spot of black, but in real life I don't think it would be noticable.

These are all the result I got on James Allen for you. It's a great website because it has photos of the actual diamonds. Plus its addicting (someone I know has 14 items on a wishlist there)

Have you tried eBay?
I know this one is a bit small, but it's already in England.

It's in New York but it's DIVINE!

I did a search for diamond, pear, gold, necklace.

What a great way to spend a morning, have a cup of coffee and looking at diamonds, LOL! Thanks for letting me be of help.

Warm regards,

Love the first one! Pattyco
However would the colour show going down in the colour that much.

Re: Can someone help me find a 0.50-0.60 ct pear shaped diam

oh no i meant the K coloured stone.

Re: Can someone help me find a 0.50-0.60 ct pear shaped diam

Oops, sorry about that.

Some folks are sensative to color and others can live with it as long as the cut is great and inclusions are minimal.

Here is a thread about "J" diamonds. I know they are not "K"'s, but they are close together on the color scale and might give you some idea it the "color would show going down that much". Re: Can someone help me find a 0.50-0.60 ct pear shaped diam

i dont know how much help ill be but i had a .9ct H pear and i currently have a .84 ct K round. The color in the H pear more noticeable than the K. I mean, The tip in the pear concentrated the color, and the "butt" hid the color, so even though it was graded a higher grade, you noticed it more as the color was uneven.

If you were buying a round pendent, id be a K cheering squad. If you stick with a pear though, i think you should tread lightly.

That's why I'm hesitant to go less than a H in colour as I heard certain fancy shapes such as pear show colour a lot more than rounds.

I purchased a .53 F pear that I had made into a pendant for my mom. I would NOT recommend going much lower in color even in that size. And this is coming from someone that has a 1 carat round K H&A pendant.

You will see the color in a pear, especially the tip. There's no way around it.

Also, it's impossible to judge the beauty of a pear through pics. You need a good vendor who will tell you the pros and cons of each pear you choose.
Here's what some pros had to say when I was choosing my pear: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/pear-aset-and-ogi-pics-opinions.126931/

And here's what it looked like when it was done. I also think pear pendants look very elegant.
