Can a donut be added to my setting?

My WB getting buried under my e-ring drives me NUTS. I am always trying to put a gap in between them. Part of my decision on whether to do a new setting or keep with existing one has to do with this issue.

So...

I know a donut CAN be added, but can it be added in a way that works with the overall aesthetic of the ring without getting too complicated and looking odd. Adam said it can be done but would change the look of the ring which concerns me a bit. I want to make sure that before I do it I can draw up exactly how I would want it done.

Thoughts?

I like a donut but don't know how that will work, so it will be interesting to see what the experts say.
So did you decide to stick with yellow gold? Your setting is really beautiful.

I love a donut too, but I think adding one to this particular ring would mess up the aesthetic of the design. Your ring is perfect as is!! :))

Stack your wedding bands or get a huge blingy one!

Your setting is spectacular. Get yourself a chunky right hand eternity band and wear it separately. I havn't worn my rings on the same finger since I was first married 27 years ago lol

I will stick with yellow gold if I stick with this setting. I guess that's pretty obvious. I haven't decided what to do yet, but the main thing I don't love about this ring is the "lack of gap". Give how much the new stone costs I want to be happy with the whole set.

Thanks btw!

That's what I'm worried about but I don't know enough about jewelry construction to make an informed decision. ;)

I tried stacking and they just get all clumped together and it bugs me. We all have our hang ups I guess!

I wish I could afford a chunky eternity band, but the bling well is dry!!! Dry dry dry!

I don't like my solitaire by itself. It needs bands to help decorate.

I just don't want to settle I guess. I waited this long for the perfect stone. Now I want to love how it all works together.

What does your wedding band look like? What about adding a spacer band between them?

A platinum eternity and a yellow gold twist band which can act as a spacer, but I don't like the look. I just need an E-ring with a donut. Question is can it be this one or do I need to start over.

Would a spacer between the e-ring and wb help at all?

We must have posted at the same time. I just don't like the look. I like the look of a little gap. Gah, I sound like a broken record.

No, I get it now-- you want skin showing! The spacer wouldn't help with that. Sizing the ering up a bit might help (leaving WB same size), but not everyone's knuckle/finger shape can do that without issues with rolling. I would be reluctant to add a donut if it would significantly change the look of the ring, which you already love. Someone here with photoshop skillz will help you out, though. ;)

What if one of those round surprise diamond things could be added to the side of it? I actually haven't seen anyone do it but I do believe they can create a gap. Not sure if it will ruin your pretty setting though.

Ultimately, I think you'll be happier in the long run if you have a new one made.

Yes...skin showing like in these pictures. I actually arranged my rings so there would be a space between gold twist and E-ring. The second picture shows how it gets buried. Drives me nuts! I am always pulling it out from under the WB.2013-08-13_13.jpg

Hahaha! You can't read my mind????
Lemme get a picture:

I can empathize, though, my last setting didn't have a gap and I was always tugging on the band to create one.

That link isn't working for me???

Yep, that's me...always tugging at my ring trying to pull them apart. Maybe I just need a new setting.

I think you need a new setting. You can sell yours and make a little bit of money back (not much, resale on mounts is bad), but its better than paying more money to change it and ending up with a big fat mess.

That is what I am thinking too. Oy...never easy...never easy... :nono: Never cheap either!

I ADORE (I can't emphasize that enough) your setting.

I don't think you can just have one added to the existing. You'd have to have it remade. But the design can tolerate a donut added to it, if that's what you want.

ADORE. ADORE. ADORE.

Who made it for you?

Thanks Gypsy! I'm flattered.

The ring was made by Adam's bench at OWD. I think they did a fantastic job. We had a little miscommunication about the donut though and it still bugs me. But, yeah, I suppose I could just have them remake it. Why didn't I think of that???
