Thank you! :appl: I'm pretty excited about this marquise. Please excuse any posting errors--I'm posting directly from my phone which is a little easier than uploading it to my computer manually.

I love the idea of split shank, and hearts sound gorgeous too--but--does that mean no halo? Initially, I didn't want one, but I just feel like this marquise needs a little 'bulking up.' What do you think?

Have you considered a 3 stone? It will give you good finger coverage in both directions.

Here's some side detail in a vintage style to widen it out.

Marquise stones can be so sexy.

Indy, your marquise is beautiful
How about something in the lines of this

Or maybe a more delicate version of this

This is beautiful and how I'd probably set a N-S marquise! :appl: (pic didn't repost, but I meant the top one with marquise side stones.)

Oddly, I have a similar setting pic saved with the marquise placed E-W!

i found these two pics of skinny marquise. one of the split shank with baguettes, one with a double halo. now thats a lot of look but shoot it would be amazing. I love the idea of a color in there.

Also, this isnt exactly the way i would do it, but Ive saved this as inspiration for my own. Vintage bezel scalloped style white metal halo with a split shank of a different gold. you know, those vintage cluster ring types. I would not bezel the marquise though.

I also would like this after I win the lottery. It's graded E IF, so since many around here dislike high color, I suppose I'll have to take it to give it a good home.

I have this saved too!

Below would be my choice for a N/S. I know you said SS is probably too pricey, but I got a quote from them on this for a marquise recently, and it was on the low end of what I think their settings go for. Still pricey though.

Totally not the OP, however my sister  marquise stones and vintage. Where might one find this setting (and she wants yellow or rose gold)....just trying to start a file for her as she has already told her bf to talk with me for ideas. ;-)

If you go look in the ERD thread there's a similar setting done for a round. I'm sure they could do this.

Thank you all SO SO much!! I've been scanning the 'net for inspiration, but this thread is an absolute gold mine for marquise settings. I love the Dover design with the pairs of marquise and a round on either side--it is just gorgeous!! The marquise side stones give it just enough 'bulk' and balance that I was looking for in this design.

I'm going start scanning JA and WF, etc. to gauge pricing on existing settings, and will send out a couple emails if I don't find a match for rough quotes for a setting marquise side-stones, and for a basic single halo. Right now, I'm thinking that I'll likely go either with the marquise sidestones, or with a halo. I absolutely love the marquise V-sidestone setting. But, though I'm not usually crazy about halos, but the spread on this thing makes me want to amplify the stone and the 'look.' And, the marquise does have kind of a shallow cut, so while it is gorgeous and sparkly, its still kind of understated. I can see round melee giving it a little extra fire. Likely, if there is a fairly big price difference, that will likely have an effect on the final choice. Thank you all so so much! Are there any vendors that are specifically 'good' for marquise rings? I know a diamond is a diamond, but I just want to make sure I've got the points on the marquise protected. I've thought a little about Quest because they seem to known for setting delicate stones.

Steven Kirsch also has done a setting with side marquise and so has Singlestone.

this is an old thread but the OP seems to want a halo with a split shank for her beautiful legging marquise stone. This is a new setting on JA that just screams "put a marquise diamond in me please"! Also there is a double halo that is amazing as well that can be set with a marquise. For those who can't afford a custom setting.

Love the claw prongs and halo that slopes back (instead of being flat)

This one is quite amazing too!
