So I have been emailing back and forth with the folks at James Allen.

She absolutely confirmed that I can only submit for idealscopes once up to three stones. They must be submitted at the same time.

I have the .80 J on hold and asked for her opinion on the four Ks that were suggested. The customer service rep liked two of the 4 Ks and said that it does pose a problem.

The J on hold is not available to be examined until the 30th and they can send me idealscope after the 30th. While the two K diamonds are available now. They will not allow me to hold all three of them until the J is avail.

Her final input was that that diamond on hold should have an excellent idealscope result. Of course she said that it shouldn't be the deciding factor and that the basic geometry of the diamond dictates its light performance etc. and that this J diamond has the preferred numbers for table, depth, crown and pavilion. She said that personally and professionally (studying to be a gemologist with GIA) she would pick up that J diamond thats on hold in a heartbeat. Over the Ks that she "likes" out of the bunch. Now she is a sales person, she did suggest to buy it now and if I don't like it I can return it with full refund and no cost even with shipping.

1. Do I just wait then for the J to be available for the idealscope?
2. Do I just purchase the J?
3. Do I find some other stones later in the week to submit with the J?
4. FOMO stresses me out of course.
5. Did we like the Ks that much were we should still be considering them? If I submit for Idealscopes for the Ks now I will not be able to request it for the J is what I am understanding but not understanding...cause that just does not make sense to me.

Help me PSers!
Thanks so much for everything up to this point!

I don't know why I said useful opinion... Its all a bit overwhelming. I can post the links to the diamonds once they are on hold.

Re: Calling Gypsy, Niel and everyone else with a useful opin

That's an easy one.

Call and talk to her manager. Explain that the above is unacceptable. And that they need to make sure you can keep all three stones on hold till the J becomes available. It's not your fault the guy is on vacation. And then they can send you all three ASETs to you together, along with the gemologist's evaluation.

:-)

Agreed

What were the other two they liked?

.84k ;) and one of the .91 that gypsy mentioned.

I have to run into work for a few hours. Not sure my SA will be there to ask when I get out but I will see what they say!

Absolutely agree! They can and will make an exception. You need to go above your associate though it appears. I would NOT take no for answer!

Don't come off rude, just when you talk to someone next I would just say you'd like to speak with someone in a managerial position as you would like to find a better solution to your problem. Its a week, I feel like they should accommodate you.

Re: Calling Gypsy, Niel and everyone else with a useful opin

The 3 IS limit is more than a little annoying, but you can also buy a cheap IS kit for under $100 and get the stone in to look at and post the IS here along with the specs, then you haven't used up any of your chances and you have that return period.

Re: Calling Gypsy, Niel and everyone else with a useful opin

Thanks ladies! I'm going to start with a simple phone call tomorrow. I will have some time.

These are the three I have on hold. Let me know if you have an opinion between the three. Also does that mean this will be the only three we can request for the rest of our lives? Seems so strange to me. What if I want to buy another diamond I can't ask for images again?!

.80 J SI1 $2570?

Re: Calling Gypsy, Niel and everyone else with a useful opin

No its not the one 3 you can request forever. I don't know exactly how it works. Like 8 no back I was certain I had found a beautiful step cut. But people here said it might be to shallow so I got 3 asets for comparison. I ended up buying none. Then 3 no later or so I went with them for my round. They never said anything about the emeralds I had gotten.

I'm keen on the. 84k it reminds me so much of mine they could practically be twins lol. I ended up picking mine because of the fast arrows and small crown. I really wanted a lot of fire!

Plus its cheaper so you could get a nicer setting if you really wanted. Plus it hits the 6mm mark

Re: Calling Gypsy, Niel and everyone else with a useful opin

So an update***

I open my inbox this morning and the first email I see is from the SA at James Allen saying that Mr. James Allen himself personally approves holding all three diamonds until the idealscopes become available! I didn't even have to ask! What a relief and fantastic customer service.
