I would loose the side bezels completely much like your inspiration pic with the pearl.
The reason I say that is my eye goes there first instead of the center where the main stone is. The reason my goes there, is because of the sold form and lack of detail. Of course shrinking it down will help as you noted, but that contrast of delicate detail with smooth broad surface will still call more attention to itself then the center stone. But, that is just my two cents.
Thank-you for the feedback. The bezel around the side stones is what I liked in the sapphire ring. Why do you think (if you do) it works there? It also looks like the bezel used to go around the side stones in the art deco ring - continuing the engraving from under the centre "stone". Perhaps I could extend that pattern to the side stone bezels too to soften it?
I agree with craighnt. I'd either bezel all three stones or not bezel any of them. However, if that's what you love about the first inspiration ring, you have to go with what you love, not with what anyone else loves. I will say one thing about the CADs...remember that they are much bulkier than the actual ring will be. Have you seen the jewelers work in person? If so and you're pleased with it, I wouldn't stress about it too much...yes, I'd ask about it so that they know you want delicate, but they will probably say that the actual piece will be much more delicate than the CAD. It's going to be gorgeous!
Thanks Yenny. This is a bit of an experiment for me. It's a bit of a leap of faith but I have heard good things about them. I do like the thin bezels on the side stones - it's what makes the ring seem quirky to me - and I hope that they will be able to make them thinner. Will post the next round of CADs soon.
