So what do you all think of the CAD drawing below?

I know... I stole some of the design from previous pics found on pricescope but continue to work with ERD.

I am going for a more antique look and will be setting a nice cushion in the ring.

Please let me know your thoughts!!!

I really like knife edge pave. Can''t wait to see it done.

wow

its going to be quite a show stopper!!! i cant wait to see the final product!!!! wht type of stone and size are you putting in it?

It looks gorgeous! One question-are the diamonds on the band getting more spaced out as they get towards the bottom of the band, or is it just the angle of the ring in the CAD making it appear that way?

Ohhh, it''s lovely. with a cushion it will be even lovelier. can''t wait to see it on your hand.

1.70 Carat Cushion... I will try to attach a pic.

It think the CAD is making it look that way. All the pave work on the band should be equally spaced.

Do you all think there is too much millgrain? Does it have the antique look?

As a long time CAD user, Four Things to think about. 1. Cushion shape diamond in Round Hole is not going to look symmetrical. Have a hard look at the top and how the damond is going to be placed as you almost have to make the diamonds in head different sizes. How is the center diamond going to set. If you are thinking about bezel setting it, understand custions are very weak in brillance and it will become a "handcreme dam" and will next to impossible to clean. 2. Ring is going to be very top heavy and I would recommend putting a square bottom or European shank on the ring. 3. There are no clean out holes on the small diamonds and if don't have the holes, no way are going to keep the diamonds sparkling. Four: the wedding band is not going to fit flush!

Recommend to upgrade to Martix 6 as the quality of the picture is not anywhere close to what's aviable. Also, ask what method they are going to use to make the "wax" or "resin". I sure would want to see the resin to make sure it's want you want the final product to look like! If you want white, go with Platinum or Palladium as White Gold is 58% or 75% yellow gold. If you think Gold & Platinum are expensive, look at Rhodium! Rhodium is what is used to make White Gold look white as it is over half yellow!

Good Luck and hope it comes out like what you what!

StoneOak, it looks like a square opening to me, you can clearly see "corners". As for the cleaning holes, there is argument that if you don't have them, hand creme, oils, dead skin, can't get in there. Some want them, some don't. Just wanted to point out the other side. I wouldn't go so far as to say cushions are "very weak in brilliance", they are however not as brilliant as a round. And lastly, ERD has been turning out great setting's for some time now, I think the OP is in good hands.

I have noticed your posts, and while you may genuinely be trying to help, they can have a very negative undertone. Maybe you could try being a little less gloom and doom?

glloyd, I'm not usually a fan of knife edged rings, but I really love that design. I think it's going to look fabulous with that cushion!

im really going to have to agree with ellen here, it seems that if the OP is not purchasing from stoneoakdans jewelry store then the product will always come out subpar. i doubt that im the only one saying i do not appreciate any of stoneoakdans posts.

oh and btw - that cad looks perfect! i wouldnt change a thing

I LURVE knife-edge pave.....gorgeous.

Is it just me, or does he self promote a little bit?? Isn''t this against the rules??

Hi glloyd77 - I love the setting and your stone is DY-NO-MITE! I'd love to see what the prongs look like from the top of the stone. Are you going for a ribbon prong look? The setting reminds me of bargaincrazy's cushion which is one of my all time faves from ERD. I really like the addition of the milgraining. It's going to be amazing.

I'd just check to see how the wider flat prongs will look on top of the stone, because there are nice facets in the corners of those types of cushions that you might not want covered by wider ribbon prongs (if in fact that's what they are, if not, ignore me).

By the way glloyd77, your ring is gorgeous!!!

Holy gorgeous CAD Batman! That is going to become one B E A U T I F U L ring!

I don''t think it would be a total stretch to say that, the thought has certainly crossed my mind. And yes it is.

I think it is just gorgeous! I think it is a bit too much milgrain for my taste, but that is a personal preference thing. LOVELY!

Pixley - is that a picture of a future Diamond afficianado above your name. Very cute.

Anyway... You are dead on as well. I used bargaincrazy''s design to start out b/c I though it was gorgeous and very interestingly unique.

Not sure what ribbon looks like, but was planning on have split prongs. Will this impede on the look of the diamond?

Also do you all think i should delete the interior milgrain on the ring shank or do you think it looks good the way it is?

Wow-that''s a gorgeous cushion! It''s going to look great in that setting. I can''t wait to see the finished product!

Anyway... You are dead on as well. I used bargaincrazy's design to start out b/c I though it was gorgeous and very interestingly unique. YUM!

Not sure what ribbon looks like, but was planning on have split prongs. Will this impede on the look of the diamond? Claw prongs are great and I think there's a thread where Dave Atlas mentions that claw prongs are a safe way to hold a cushion in place.

Also do you all think i should delete the interior milgrain on the ring shank or do you think it looks good the way it is? I vote yes, mainly for comfort; might be nice to have it smooth just on the interior row.
Ooh, I can't wait to see this ring!

I looooooove that diamond! It looks stunning. And I think the setting compliments the stone perfectly.

First, your stone is FABULOUS!!! And I love the design, it is beautiful.
As for the milgrain on the interior of the shank, I would keep it (I am biased I

milgrain). If properly done it will not be uncomfortable, everything looks exaggerated in CADs.
My ring has milgrain along that area and I have never had a comfort issue.

Wowzers, that is going to be a beauty!!!!

I think the ring looks beautiful with a very antique style to it.

That ring is going to be beautiful!!

Do you think there is a difference between the pave work on the band of the CAD above and the pave work my Mr. Mege below?

I am inclined to believe that the Mege ring is micro-pave. Is this correct?
