Buying Tacori Setting Online

I recently purchased my diamond with the help of this site, and am now focused on getting the right setting.

I've toyed with a few but seem to keep coming back to the Tacori halo. The local jewelery stores in my area all sell the setting for the same price as I believe the price is set and maintained from Tacori directly (at least that's what I've been told).

I was wondering if anyone has purchased a designer setting like this online to save the tax that would be paid when buying locally? In this case, if I was able to find the setting online would I then be able to send the loose stone and setting to Tacori to set the diamond, or would I be forced to trust a local jeweler to do that for me?

I appreciate any advice or feedback.

Thanks

Who did you buy the stone from? Do they carry Tacori?

I believe Good Old Gold carries Tacori - I'd call them. They'll probably charge a fee for setting an outside stone if you didn't get it from them, but an email or phone call never hurts. :)

Good idea and thanks for the speedy reply. The stone was bought from James Allen.

what about something like this as an example

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TACORI-0...t=Diamond_Solitaire_Rings&hash=item589e8b1788

looks like a reputable ebay seller. The setting is cheaper than the msrp at the local B&M. If I bought this, I would get a discount as well as avoid sales tax, but then what? Would Tacori put the ring together for me if I sent them the diamond and setting or would I be on my own at this point since I did not go through an authorized Tacori dealer?

Has anyone gone this route?

IDJewelry is a popular vendor here. However, I didn't think they were a Tacori dealer... if this is just a once piece they have, then IDJ would set it. If you go through a Tacori dealer, I believe Tacori sets it.

Hi,
I have a Tacori, my understanding is that Tacori sets a minimum price point that typically must be met by the jeweller. Any discounted pieces would be through private sales ( though I remember someone saying that tacori settings can occasionally be found on overstock.com). For stone setting, tacori will either set the stone for you or by an authorized tacori jeweller. If you get the stone set by anyone outside of that then it voids the tacori warranty.

Thanks for the info maccers. Good to know. Various sellers on eBay have the setting I want in Platinum for the White gold price (approx $800 less the platinum msrp)

I guess I will try to contact Tacori tomorrow and see if I buy from a private seller if they will still set the diamond. If not, then I guess I will go with the White Gold setting from the local Tacori B&M dealer at the normal msrp.

Thanks for the reply.

Very interested in what you ended up doing. I'm in the exact same dilemma currently.
