Buying my girlfriends engagement ring in next few days

Congrats Matt! Its has been fun watching you page after page. You read everything, you did your homework and the payoff will be AMAZING! Can''t wait to see pics after the proposal!

^ He said 'where did you buy it?'. I said 'James Allen'.. He said 'Oh, some cheap place. Every place I have delt with covers it. My 1/2 carat fell out 2 weeks ago, nowhere to be found, one of the prongs came loose. I took it back to Kay Jewelers and they fixed it free with a new free diamond. It was covered under their plan'.. then told me about how I needed to shop at kay jewelers.

I want to know why a guy was wearing a 1/2 carat diamond.

ANY diamond can fall out of ANY ring for the most part! Although it is rare it can happen. Try these companies who will insure your investment should you not get any further joy with your homeowners.

I told amandas parents I am coming over tonight. Of course I am going there to ask permission to ask Amanda to marry me. I got to be quick or Amanda will know what is up. I am going to tell her I am going to get oil for my car to change its oil (its raining, no bike today).

Amanda asked me on the way to work this morning "Do you think we can go look at other jewelers this weekend since you did not like any local ones?".. I said "Ugh, maybe. You are pestering me again.".. and she didn''t bring it up again. HA!

This is getting tougher as the week goes by

No trip. Amanda decided to go to her parents for something. I had to divert my plan to saturday while I know she is away and not at her parents for a couple hours. I will post after that. Little nervous about it.. but I will survive.

Aww, haha. Maybe! I''m sure it''ll go beautifully! With all her questions, you''re doing great at throwing her from the scent!
 
Well that step is complete! Amanda even called there talking to her mom about me while I was there. She said "Matt went to get oil at 8.30 this morning and isn''t back yet". When I got back I told her the auto parts stores were closed so I had to wait and shop around to kill some time.

Her parents had muffins and coffee waiting for me. It went smooth and they gave me their blessing of course. They said we are a good match and congrats. I also got commended on not getting a loan for the ring. I explained to them it took time because I wanted to be sure (been together 4 years and lived together for 3) and of course I wanted to buy the ring in cash.

They seemed pretty excited.

So, one step down! I had to come home with oil so now I have to go change oil in vehicles HaHA

So happy that everything finally came together for you to be able to see her parents! It''s so cute that now you actually need to do an oil change to make sure she won''t spot the fib!! Amanda''s a tough cookie to surprise....she sounds like a sleuth!! Good luck on the final step!!!
 
So glad that step is finished. This is like reality tv now. I want to hear how it ends lol. Good Luck!!

3 years ago I was in a life threatening accident on my snowmobile (broken bones and split open organs). The first fireman on the scene was awesome and helped save me. I am now starting to become friends with him and his wife. Turns out her and amanda get along great. We went out tonight for the first time to try it out and closed down the bar (close at 1 am here). Amanda was telling her all about how we met and our second date I took her to "our" waterfall and described what we were even wearing.

On the way home amanda said "Matt, it is funny, I cannot tell you what I felt like before we met because it is hard to remember not being happy. Since I met you, I have been as happy as can be and I can't imagine what my life would be like if I had not met you."

I am not a sappy guy.. but that touched me. Very nice to see that 3-4 years can go by and she feels the way she does and I feel the same. I didn't share that with anyone but you here on this forum.

We are in a new town here in the sticks and have almost no friends... things are looking up

Hola Diamond Fanatics! Thanks again for the kind words! I had no idea this thread would draw so much attention.

I called JA yesterday and told them I took the time off to drive down into PA to get the ring. They put something on the order that said it was a firm delivery date so they were sure to get it out today. I said that was great as long as they didn't rush it and sacrifice quality :).

The ring shipped out 2 hrs ago. I planned out a route of beautiful twisty roads to take down there on my bike. A 2 hr trip one way just turned into 4 hrs haha. But I may have to rush the fast way back. The weather is looking grim wednesday night. I told Amanda I wanted to hit the waterfall this week for some new pictures for our picture frame, little does she know, they will be engagement pictures!

She mentioned going tomorrow night because the weather.. so I might have to get back here by 5 to step up my plans by a day!

She got all mad tonight because one of her friends is 6 years younger than her and got engaged today. She then showed me the ring and was all over it.. the ring I got her is better IMO :). She then said "Maybe that james allen place my sister showed me has discounts". She knows I am all about coupons and discounts. So she started looking for discounts. I was praying that this site did not come up and she would see this thread but then the phone rang and she quit looking.. Phew!

Hmmm... so Matt hasn''t been on here at all today. I''m guessing he''s on the way back from FedEx in PA. If I understand this right, there could be a proposal tonight due to the weather!

It''s been quite a journey Matt. You''ve come a long way in the past few weeks and hopefully, you have already checked the FedEx box and realized how well you did. Soon, Amanda will know too. I am sure she will be thrilled and I KNOW you will be thrilled to not have to keep being sneaky. Really, how many oil changes can you do in a week?

Somehow I missed this part of your message! Too funny. I think you''re well on your way to a total surprise. All the times you got busted and nearly busted along this process... you must be a pretty quick thinker! I was afraid of the internet search thing too - that''s why I''m a treefrog. It was just a random thing that came to mind as I was registering here and not tracable back to me in any way.

OMG, this is the sweetest story ever, it''s beautiful the way it all unfolded. Hopefully, the grand finale will be just perfect. I can hardly wait to find out! Oh and btw, congrats on getting a beautiful ring! It will blow her mind going by everything you said.

Treefrog that is FUNNY!!! But a scooter!? haha.. I would not have done the 300+ (6 hrs of riding) on a scooter haha.

You guys will love to hear the details but it is late and been a LONG day. I need to get sleep so I can perform at work. I tried to upload a teaser picture but the forum is giving me an error, I even made it less that 100kb.

the ring is BEAUTIFUL!!! It could stop traffic!!!!!

But most of all.. I AM ENGAGED!!

If the size is okay, you probably just need to rename the file -- pick something simple containing a few letters and numbers.

Get some sleep, because you''ll need to be rested in order to post all those pictures and give a detailed report of the engagement!
