Hi,

I was wondering if there was a price difference in buying settings in the US versus Canada.

Are there any canadian custom designers I should know about?

The reason I am asking is because in my search for custom designers, I contacted www.eurojewellery.com , and their quote was several hundred dollars lower than whiteflash''s quote.

I''m wondering if its because of the difference in quality or difference in location!

When comparing prices in jewelry and diamonds you really need to research to be sure that you''re comparing "apples to apples". For example, you''ll want to compare the weight of the rings, quality and total weight of diamonds and when comparing between the US and Canada, obviously take into account the exchange rate. I''m just guessing here, but, I can''t imagine that the prices vary greatly between the US and Canada for the same product.

Yeah, another Canadian on board!!

Claude Thibideau is an awesome designer in Montreal. If you're looking for something different, "unique",I would check out his work!

That's one example of his work.

Hehe, I'm not actually Canadian =( just close to the border... sorry! hehe

Can be done in 3-5 days?!?!?!??!!

They made this setting, which is similar to what I'm asking for-
http://www.benchconference.com/2008/DesignContest/index.html

Pros-
Is the amount we budgeted to spend.

Cons-
I would be dealing with someone across the border, and I don't know what the law on taxes, duties, etc are. Is more of a hassle.

Total: USD 2,150.00

Whiteflash-

The custom platinum ring in size 6 to hold your .91ct Regent diamond, include 0.45ctw aca diamonds and to look like the attached picture will be $2425 plus a charge of $70 to set your diamond will be $2495.

$2495 with 2% wire discount = $2445

Pros- pricescope time tested, in the US
Cons- I'm not sure I like casted rings. The ring setting that broke from porosity scares me...

OR

Would you choose to pay an extra thousand, and go with Maytal.

Pros- Handmade!!
Cons- more expensive

That is the dilemma I have right now. =)

This is the ring I want-

Can someone please advise me on which to choose? =) =)

I really like the designs by Euro. This one in particular!
"Alliance du coeur"
If they are cheaper than WF..then I would go that route..especially since their designs look so unique!

Euro Jewellery actually looks pretty good. Wait for the rest of the quotes and see how you feel.
