Budget Diamond Pendant gift for mom- thoughts?

Hi Everyone,

Wanted to put out some feelers for your thoughts on a budget-friendly (under $1000) gift for my mom. She is throwing my wedding and has done a mountain of work, and she doesn't have any diamond jewelry. I don't think a ring fits the bill, she is widowed and we are hoping she will get a ring from someone else So, a tiny, delicate pendant came to mind. Maybe a bezel setting in yellow gold? She is 60, has very cute/funky style and is youthful. Does anyone have any suggestions for vendor or style considering the budget?

Lastly, IDJ is great at working with tight budgets! A few people recently got beautiful milgrained bezel pendants so that could be another option!

I'd go with a nice 1/2 carat j-k eyeclean (a shallower one like a 60/60 with a 33 crown angle and a 41 pavillion) with fluorescence in a super thin bezel with milgrain (Queenie I think has a double milgrain bezel from them that is to die for). IDJ can do that for you, easily.

I absolutely love this pendant for impact and offering something a little bit funkier than a delicate dbty style. There are few women in the prime of life, as your mother sounds to be, who can't carry off a more robust style like this beautifully, even better than a tiny delicate drop of sparkle!

** these are calibrated sizes which might be easier to set in a ready made setting. I'm sure the JA one will fit in a 5mm head but the closer to the actual size the better.

I've had a number of J's & they are plenty white for a pendant.
There are plenty of settings & chains around on Ebay or LT or DB that are reasonable. Another option is having a local jeweler buy from Stuller, which are reasonable as well.

Call IDJewelry & see if they can locate any of the stones suggested. They will price match you'll get personal service from a family run store. They will work with any budgets.

I was checking out some items on Stuller & found a few simple pendant mounts you might like. I have no idea of cost so you'll have to check with ID or a local place (although ID would be my 1st choice). Apart from a simple 4 prong, maybe a bezel style might oomph out the size a bit.

Good luck and I hope you find the perfect pendant for your mother. There is a PS'r selling a bezel Whiteflash pendant - look under the preloved section, it's under 1/2 carat and set in yellow gold on a 20" chain. I would buy for my daughter however, she prefers rose gold over yellow gold.
