IMG_2670.jpg Attached is a picture of my wife's halo ring. You cannot tell by the picture but it has the pave on the sides from 5 to 7. Plat 950 material.
This breakage is not due to resizing, the jeweler told me the resizing would be done at the center/bottom of the ring, not near the pave where the break is right under the pave. Wife is a school teacher, does not do heavy lifting work with hands. Does not wear the ring for exercise.

Sent it back to the jeweler for repair. I would think this should not happen. Ring is about 5 years old, re-sizing has been done once.
Would appreciate and thoughts or comments.

That looks like a clean break. I would guess that's where the shank was cut for resizing and the jeweler did a poor job of soldering it back together.

That really stinks!

I dont have any advice. Just curious like you what would have caused this.

Wondering how wide the shank is? It doesnt look particularly thin.

Just saw the part where you wrote that the jeweler said the break isn't where they did the resizing. I don't really know what to tell you then.

So sorry this happened. What does BE say about this?

It is not that uncommon for a pave ring that has been resized to break under or near the last few pave diamonds in the shank.
It is the weakest part of the shank and cracks during resizing holding on in the weakened state.
Then as it is taken on and off it moves making the crack bigger and it is under tension then it lets go releasing the tension and sticks out just like that.
It is like releasing one end of a flat spring, it tries to straiten out.

I will find out.......should be an easy repair.
