Briolettes in Rings???

So funny that you've raised this question because I recently joined Instagram and have been devouring tons of ring pics, and a few of the antique dealers have shown images of rings with briolettes! I was wondering the same thing! Very cool, I say :P2

I'm thinking about re-setting my cushion and am considering making it a 3-stone. Briolettes are on the list of possible candidates for side stones! I wonder where one would source them from!!

Ah! So kind of a thing :) Sourcing is definitely a question, because I don't think I have ever seen briolettes sold as anything other than beads or elongated drops for earrings and necklaces.

Any pictures you have saved of great rings with briolettes is much appreciated :D :D :D

Briolettes or Double-rose? What is the difference?

Briolettes or Double-rose? What is the difference?

My understanding of this (and I could be totally wrong), is that briolletes can be cut in many ways, but will always have way more facets than a rose (or double rose) cut. The beads at least usually have a sort of diamond checkerboard facet pattern, while rose cuts have a triangular honeycomb facet pattern that radiates out from the center.

Vs. Rose cut

That being said, I have seen briolette beads cut in a more triangular facet pattern that looks more like a rose cut pattern (but on an elongated bead). Maybe I'm totally wrong. Perhaps "briolette" refers to a generally style of consistently faceting the surface of a stone, of which rose cuts are just a sub-category? hmmmm....

It’s a good way to explain it. Thanks!

Just posting another ring by Victor Barbone with briolette side stones! I love the slightly triangular shape of these briolettes! :kiss2:

Bumping this only because... if anyone knows where you can find stones like this, I want to know! (flat briolettes)

Try Caysie of CVB Inspired Design. She's going to re-set my cushion next year in a 3-stone with briolette sides. :kiss2: My dilemma is how on earth I'll be able to wait 7-8 months for the re-set!!!!!!

ETA: I'm sure you could also ask Victor Barbone if they source diamond briolettes. What is your plan for the briolettes?

Ah! Can't wait to see how it comes out! Is that how long the queue is for CvB at the moment? I guess the best things are well worth the wait! I will for sure be on the lookout to see it's progress :) :) :)

And good point about VB. No plans for anything specific a the moment. Just drooling and dreaming....

No queue that I'm aware of! The 7-8 month timeframe is just my self-imposed wait time because it will take me about that long to save up what I need to make this re-set happen! :P2

BTW, I love your avatar! I love jellyfish!!

Ahhh, yes. Smart finances.

And thanks! I have no bling to speak of yet, so for now the jewels of the sea!
