Which is better quality? Anyone have opinions? And can someone explain to difference between low dome and European low dome to me??

Re: Blue Nile or E-Weddingbands for plat/palladium plain ban

Maybe posting the links would help people know what you are talking about. European low dome is a term a company has made up to describe something.

I am not sure it would be possible to really compare quality other than in terms of looks or weight. I'd be afraid of a palladium band because a lot of jewelers cannot size it. I am not sure about how well it polishes. As far as platinum goes, I would want 90/10iridium or 95/5 ruthenium since they are harder and more scratch resistant, but I am guessing that neither of these would carry these alloys.

Hi jfmiii,

I've never had a Blue Nile band, but I did purchase low dome comfort fit bands for my husband (5.5mm) and myself (3.5mm) From E-Weddingbands and they are sturdy and super comfortable. ( I have 18k, and am saving up for a plat one too :rodent:). E-wedding bands was very easy to deal with - even for an international transaction.

I would recommend them to anyone. http://www.e-weddingbands.com/store/euro-pt-reg.html

I love platinum because of it's weight, other folks love palladium because of it's lightness - Depends on what you're looking for in a ring (palladium is slightly britttle).

for e-wedding bands, The low dome comfort fit is 1.8mm tall and the European comfort fit is 1.9mm tall. We got the low dome comfort fit because my husband wanted a ring that would fit flatter to the finger and not rub against the fingers on either side of his ring finger.

I recommend e-weddingbands or weddingringhotline.com for plain bands. They both have some of the lowest prices around, and great quality. You really have to compare the band's thickness when comparison shopping. Blue Nile is good too but I think their prices are higher.

I'd pick Eweddingbands because they are so wonderful to work with and you have so many choices to pick from. I got DH wedding band from them and we are very happy with it.

I have this ring from e wedding bands

http://www.e-weddingbands.com/store/plmg3info.html

I also have a 3 stone in platinum from blue nile. I think you will get a good quality ring from either place. I love my plain band more than I thought I would. I wear it when I am not wearing my 3 stone and diamond bands, mostly at home or to water parks and any place I might damage my rings. I have had my band for about a year and I still don't see any scratches on it. My 3 stone gets scratched up by my diamond bands that I wear on either side. I have also had it longer but have never felt the need to get it polished. I really don't think it looks bad. I know the scratches that platinum can get does bother some people. I really have not noticed my platinum rings looking any worse than my yellow gold rings. Maybe it is just me.

Is this for you or your SO?

DH's original band was a 6mm heavy comfort fit from e-wb. When he lost it we replaced it locally w/ a Benchmark band. The Benchmark is heavier and more rounded on the interior and edges and he finds it more comfortable. It was a bit more expensive.

I have several 1.5-2.5mm bands from e-wb and I'm very happy with them - they're fantastic to work with for small adjustments, shape and polish changes, metal matching... very fast and very helpful.

I've bought from weddingringhotline as well, and had a good experience with them too ::)

Both e-wb's and wrh's bands are die struck, BN's will be cast. For a plain band I prefer the former.

I have the low dome comfort ring for e-wedding bands in 14kt rose gold and just ordered one for my husband. I love that ring! I also have one in heavy platinum comfort fit and I also love it. I will say that I couldn't quite get the sales person to fully explain the difference btwn low dome and European low dome, but in the end, the ring I wanted didn't offer the European style in 14kt rg.

Re: Blue Nile or E-Weddingbands for plat/palladium plain ban

thanks for all the replies everyone. the ring is for me....id like 4-4.5mm, size 9.5. my ideal ring is a Tiffany Lucida, but $1750 for the ring is a bit absurd:

http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?sku=GRP00370

I'm thinking of one of these from e-weddingbands in PD or PL:

http://www.e-weddingbands.com/store/product168253.html
http://www.e-weddingbands.com/store/product168116.html

or a similiar style from Blue Nile:

http://www.bluenile.com/low-dome-platinum-wedding-ring_7231
http://www.bluenile.com/comfort-fit-wedding-ring-palladium_36661

Id like a style that is closest to the Lucida. I like PD bc the everyone has PL and it would be different, it is lighter than platinum, and costs a lot less. i may end up just paying up for the Lucida but if one of these styles is indistinguishable from the Lucida, Id much rather save myself the cash...

Yssie, E-weddingband's rings are die struck?!? All the bands or just platinum ones? I didn't know that!

I like the Lucida band too, but that price is insane!

I think the European low dome from E-weddingbands would look similar.

Definitely the plat and the gold, I assume palladium too!

Probably the low dome.

Re: Blue Nile or E-Weddingbands for plat/palladium plain ban

Die struck means that it is hammered into shape not cast. Eweddingbands.com platinum is 95%plat 5% Ruthenium

Re: Blue Nile or E-Weddingbands for plat/palladium plain ban

I bought my wedding band from eweddingbands.com 6 years ago, it is holding up very well.
It is a low dome, comfort fit, plat 950 band.
Their prices are also very good.

If you are really wanting a Lucida, you can get an authentic one for around 950.00 on ebay in plat.
