I lasted 12 days before my Bling withdrawal got the better of me and I’m sure I can share this “humiliation” with my understanding PS friends....
So WHAT DID I BUY !
I bought a diamond semi mount.
I have my collection of gems which to be honest had overwhelmed me. Both my Mum and Dad are aged and unwell and I have been otherwise occupied. 2019 is a new year, time to get moving.
I have the 2 x 3 carat round blue sapphires. My original intention was earrings as they are an almost match. I even bought a pair of earring mounts for them but decided the earring mounts were too simple and unimpressive. And I’m not a huge fan of earrings anyway, I prefer rings and bracelets so I can admire my bling beauties!
So then I considered selling them both together as a pair as it seemed a shame to split them and heavens above, the cost of getting a “substantial” ring setting made is $$$$$. I like BIG and a 3 carat sapphire needs more (much more) than a light sprinkling of diamonds in my opinion. But that made me a bit sad, I wanted to keep one.
Then I found this. Oh my, perfect in every way. AND price friendly.
Big hugs to Suzanne who is my “partner in bling” who willingly aids and abets me with my international purchases.
So here we are, photos of the entire process to date.

That's a lovely semi-mount! Is it what they call a "ballerina ring"? I think I have seen some called that.
I succumbed today too! I have had a necklace put aside, which I will collect next week. (thread in CS). :cool2:

Love the setting @Bron357. So, what are you going to do with the other sapphire?

Yay, I’m not alone with my “weakness”.
Let’s face it, life is too short and surely these are all just “wearable investments”
But yes, ballerina style, not “current” which helped price wise and it’s pre loved. 4 carats diamonds

That is going to be a whole lot of ring!! Love it!!

It’s a bit complicated. It is possible (probable even) that they are of Burmese origin due to their inclusions BUT I would have to send the gems overseas (GRS Swiss lab or Lotus) for certification and that’s the ?!? If I send them Overseas even though I own them, I’ll still have to pay import taxes when they are returned to me. 15% of value. I can then reclaim back the tax of course but that can take 6 months or more. There’s like 1,000 customs officers charging incoming fees and taxes and 1 customs officer processing refunds! So while I’d get a much better price certified by a recognized lab it will cost me thousands up front to do so.

:Up_to_something2: Fallen off the wagon, eh?

I look forward to seeing the set pieces!

I actually love the earring mounts! That ring is going to be so gorgeous, I can't wait to see it finished.

Congratulations on your Bling Free 12 days! Definitely a reason to celebrate, and what better way than with more bling??! :mrgreen2: And those sapphires are delicious.

Congrats on 12 days! and I love your new sapphires! They will look great in your semimount! Cant wait to see the pictures of them set!

Well done, @Bron357 - I think 12 days is admirable!

Firstly, I'm sorry to hear about the state of your parents. I wish them and you good health and happiness vibes.

Secondly, that is an absolutely amazing setting. I love the ballerina look.
