I tripped over a second hand diamond BDG ring in platinum and would like feedback. I’m definitely an old cut fiend, so MRB stats aren’t something I am familiar with. This is a zoomed in picture of the AGS certificate. The diamond has strong blue fluorescence and is (VS1/I) and 0.811ct. I’ve seen the original receipt and she has the box, so I feel confident this is authentic. I’d like to use this diamond and pair it with one currently for sale at BGD to make a set of studs. So, what say you blingsters? If you could get a BGD diamond for less than half, would you go for it?

If you can see the girdle inscription to confirm it’s the same as the certificate, then yes, why not?
 
@Snowdrop13 Enabling, eh? :lol:I just need confirmation that it’s a great diamond for a MRB. I know AGS Ideal 0 is the best, but I’m concerned about the strong blue fluorescence.
 
get yourself a powerful enough loupe to be able to check the inscription on the girdle. if it checks out, then you are good to go.

if you are concerned about the strong blue fluorescence, view the diamond in direct sunlight. it should not be hazy, milky, or oily. But It is a branded & vetted diamond. I think its going to be alright. and the fluorescence will cause the i color diamond to appear much brighter than its color designation.

if i could get an ideal cut diamond for less than half, would i go for it???

What is your concern? Are you planning to pair with another “Blue” range stone? I don’t know for sure but I’d expect that stones sold by BG that have been vetted would not show any detrimental effects.
 
@Big Fat Facets It’s late and I literally stumbled upon it, so I was shocked when I saw the retail price for a similar diamond on his website. I guess I’m going to check it in person and go from there.

@Roselina I’ve never had a strong blue, so it will interesting to see what it looks like in person.

@Snowdrop13 Yes, I would send it to BGD and have them find a suitable match with strong blue fluorescence. I haven’t owned a stone with strong blue fluorescence, so my concern will be calmed once I lay eyes on it.

It can be the most fascinating attribute of a diamond as long as it doesn't impact clarity of the diamond. So if all the stars line up, I would snap it up pronto.

What are the type of inclusions?

It should be inspected as the unmarked mentioned clouds too. Clouds and fluoro can be bad

I did post an example of a hazy milky VS1 last week in a different thread.
I have also seen plenty of VVS and Flawless strong and very strong fluorescent diamonds where the manufacturer has described the diamond as having reduced brilliance.
I one of those cases a GIA Flawless diamond was described as having internal graining by the manufacturer.
 
Garry if it is indeed a bgd blue it has already been vetted for being hazy or other issues and found to be ok.
