BGD Classic Style or CVB Jovyn?

I have a stone ready to be set at BGD. I decided on the Truth setting, (thread here) https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/help-me-decide-on-a-solitaire-setting-at-bgd.218267/, however, I am still ambivalent about that setting because I would prefer a six prong over a four prong. It feels more secure to me and accentuates the roundness of the diamond. Right now I am waiting on the credit for my trade in before they go to production on the setting, so nothing is in production at this point.

Recently I have seen a platinum version of a six prong ring on Caysie van Bebber's Instagram and on her Etsy page that I love, love, love.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/230453061/the-cvb-jovyn-classic-six-prong. I contacted her for a quote and it is about the same price as the Classic (formerly Tiffany) solitaires at BGD. Also, Gemfever just got this setting for her newest ring and it is gorgeous!! I have looked all over PS, and no one has posted the Jovyn yet.

I know it would be easier to get BGD to make their 6 prong and set my stone, but given my history with the Tiffany setting at BGD, are they likely to even agree to make me one?
Thread here:https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/bgd-blue-in-tiffany-haf-round.215464/

I think my troubles with that setting were a one off, as all of the other versions I have seen here on PS are perfect to my eyes.

My question is: Should I have BGD make their version, or should I get the Caysie ring? If BGD, then which one would you think looks the most like Caysie's? in particular the lift in the shoulders and the curve of the shank. I could ask for more clawlike prongs from BGD. The advantage to having BGD make it is I save on shipping and any potential problems with insurance, damage, etc. BGD would also take 2 weeks as opposed to 5 weeks.

Thank you so much for reading!

I say if the CVB ring is everything you want then GET IT! I see no reason to have someone else try to make it when you know it's the
one you want and you like everything about it.

LOVE all my cvb pieces, caysie is such an artist-go for it!

Angela -

I've had three iterations of the BGD tapered classic - and it's my favorite solitaire setting of this nature. I love it - it's elegant and the claws BGD did for me were tiny and beautiful.

I'm also not a huge fan of knife edge settings, so, as the BGD tapered classic is a half round style, this was a no brainer for me.

If, on the other hand, you love a knife edge, then the CVB is the way to go. If that's not the case, tho, I'd be going for the BGD version with all its attendant benefits.

+1

People usually have trouble figuring out what they love. Since you have already figured out the hardest part, go for what you love.

I honestly prefer 6 prongs as well, so I'd prefer the Jovyn over the Truth. As much as I like the BG 6 prong Tiffany style settings, after reading your first experience, I wouldn't try that again. When I hear someone say they "love, love, love" a setting, then I think that's a no-brainer! I'd check on timeline for completion with Erica, though. It might take longer than having BG make one of that matters to you.

I'd go with the setting that you love, love, love. Sure it might cost a little bit more and take a few weeks longer but those seem like small concessions to make to get the setting you want.

I like the CVB Jovyn. My current ER has a knife edge which I had WF soften and it is very comfortable to wear.
