I received my CAD from Jamie at BGD recently and I'm excited for the finished product! My girlfriend likes rose gold and I've seen some lovely rose gold pieces come from BGD so I decided to go through them. I've always like the Novela setting but unfortunately that particular setting only comes in platinum. Luckily BGD does custom settings so I contacted them to see if they can cast the Novela in 14ct rose gold. Jamie has been helping me throughout the process and she has been more then helpful with all my questions and concerns. She told me that they are able to cast the Novela in rose gold! Since I was doing a custom setting, I wanted to add and change a couple things on the setting according to my girlfriend's taste. She doesn't like the way the ring tapers towards the top so I asked if it was possible to make the width of the shank even all around. She also likes milgrain so I drew a picture of how I wanted them to add the milgrain on the inside of the shank and they told me it was possible. I attached a photo of the CAD I received. Overall, I'm very happy with CAD and super excited to see the finished ring!

Looks beautiful!

I love rose gold. I'm not sure how the milgrain will look on such a narrow ring though. It might not be very visible at all, as you'll have to be looking directly down the point of her finger to see it?

I agree 100% about the milgrain. To me, that design is very modern and sleek, and the milgrain just looks out of place. I think it would be much better with a plain inner shank.

I respect your opinion liaerfbv. I honestly kinda feel the same way! But my girlfriend likes milgrain and at the end she will get what she wants. We based the milgrain off a ring I attached below which I was originally going to get. Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for your reply sortmon! Yes the milgrain might not be very visible at all. With such a narrow shank the milgrain will have to be very small like in the picture I attached. As long as she can see the milgrain and as long as she knows it's there is what counts.

I love that BGD design! As far as the milgrain, it's on the inner part of the band, so the ring should still look modern and streamlined from above -- and the milgrain will be covered once she pairs a band with it anyway. :))

At the end of the day - it's her ring and if that's what she likes, kudos to you for getting it for her. I do think it will be beautiful and BGD does great work and I would have total faith in them pulling together elements to make a great finished product.

I love the Novela design as well msop04, it's beautiful and timeless in my opinion. As far as the milgrain, I recently had a talk with my girlfriend about it. I felt that the milgrain didn't really go with the sleek lines of the Novela and that it also might not be too noticeable since the shank is so thin. She said she trusts my judgement (which is one of the many reasons why I want to marry her). So we both decided to hold off on the milgrain (for now) but it still may be an option later.

So yesterday I called BGD to see if it's possible to cast the ring without the milgrain. I talked to Leslie and I have nothing but good things to say about her. She's one of the sweetest people you can ever talk to. I told her my concerns about the milgrain and she was more than helpful with getting my situation done the way I wanted it. She even emailed me this morning with an updated CAD of my custom rose gold Novela without the milgrain like I wanted. Amazing service.

The Novela head was lowered half a millimeter for more durability and a suprise stone was also added into the CAD on the inner portion of the shank. The suprise stone is me and my girlfriend's birthstone. I just approved the new CAD and I can't wait to get the finished product.

I LOVE it! I think lowering the head was a great idea, I love when there's no negative space under the diamond. Just a personal pref. I think it is going to be  ! Please come back and post pics when you get it!

Really exciting I am obsessed with rose gold.

Beautiful!! What an exciting period for both of you :wavey:

I think it will be gorgeous! But as a fellow lover of milgrain, I would want it on the top edges on either side of the diamonds (with beadset diamonds).

I think you made the right decision regarding removing the milgrain. You can always go for a wedding band with milgrain later!
