Best way to sell a Gia certified old European cut diamond

I have an oec diamond that is I1 L color and 2.79 carats (Gia certified). It was in a rather elaborate setting but it is now loose. What is the best way to see it? I was thinking of keeping the mounting and placing a pearl in it. The setting is not original and is probably from the 50s or 60s.

Should I try to sell it privately? Should I try an online consignment site? Should I have it mounted in a plain, inexpensive setting so that it is not just a loose stone?

I upgraded and no longer have use for it.

Thanks for any advice.

you can try to sell it on loupe troop/diamond bistro and post here in pre loved - if it doesn't sell then I would consign it to one of the old cut experts Love affair diamonds or jewels by grace.
