So I have a few Old Mine Cut diamonds I want to make a custom setting for. Like most, they have a warm ting of yellow, maybe a K or L on the color scale. The thing is I know they would look good in yellow gold, but it's not my thing anymore. I love platinum but I am afraid they might look more yellow. Is this what would happen or do you think the whiteness of the platinum will reflect into the stone making less yellow? Looking for suggestions like brushed vs polished or platinum vs white gold or other metal. Open to ideas.

I have a J coloured OEC bezeled in platinum and an L coloured OMC (it is a newly cut stone though) previously set in white gold. Neither made the diamonds look yellower. Sometimes they look whitish and at worst, a bit tinted like off-white lace.

I have a U-V OEC set in platinum. My stone faces up much whiter, from the side you can see a creamy tint.
The platinum does not make the stone look more yellow.

Before this I had in set in a cup/bowl with a thick bezel, made of 18K white gold. Because the stone was fully locked up in the cup, the stone showed more tint. That was due to the lack of light reaching the stone, not the metal color.

M in platinum....

OK thanks I guess I am over thinking it on the color. Just everyone seems to be talking as if its not colorless it should go into gold.

The ring pic looks good to me.

Good point on the cup setting making it look darker. I will have to rethink this.
