Hello everyone,

After lurking around on here for a while I'm about ready to take a stab at this. Here's what I'm looking for:

1) a round cut diamond 1 carat to 1.1 carats

2) svI1 to sI2

3) excellent cut

4) I've been leaning in the F or G range

If course, she is looking for something closer to 1.1 but I don't want to sacrifice quality for size. I'm not sure if going as far as si2 is a good idea or if that would be okay based on my budget. Everyone's thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Do either of these seem like good options? Both are under 2 HCA

Hello NA55 :wavey:

Honestly, I don't think you will find a 1 ct in an excellent cut in that color range for $5K. I would suggest you go down to I or J color and just under a carat (0.9 - 0.99) in order to try to stay within your budget. ...Or maybe increase your budget?? :halo: SI is fine as long as it's eye-clean enough for you and the inclusion(s) do not affect the structural integrity of the stone.

Thanks for the feedback. That is a really nice diamond but I'd like to stay somewhere in the G range. I'm not stuck at $5,000 but I'd like to keep the budget as close to that as possible. Any opinion on the two diamonds I previously posted links too above?

They're probably not eye-clean at that price.

The budget and color is unrealistic at a round

:((
Does it have to be round, if it has to be G?

Certainly understandable, but I had to show that M, as that's a steal!

Here are another 2 options -

.926ct, G color, top cut:

.94ct, H color, top cut:

+1
Almost definitely not clean at that color... OP, an H or I may not be out of the question for $5K, but a G will be almost impossible to find. It would take one of those "holy grail" I1 inclusions or something of the like for that to happen. I've seen it done, though... :sun:

An I or even a J (fluorescence will help) will look white at that size stone, so I would recommend you don't totally count them out of your search. An H is very white, so I think this would be the about the best you'd do as far as color for a 1 ct stone at that budget, assuming you want an excellent cut and optics. :)) Now, if you're open to the 0.9 ct range, then you may be able to find something in budget. :naughty:
