I want a bezel-set with bridge, milgrain on the part of the bezel that touches the diamond. WG head, rose tapered shank.
I know exactly what I want my setting to look like and need suggestions for the best vendor or designer for a bezel set.

Do you mean something like Gemfever's former ring? Her setting is by Brian Gavin.

thank you! that's just about it, except a looking for a shank that tapers toward the diamond.

I think ERD and BGD do great bezels with miligraining.

Probably not what you have in mind but I love the bezel, milgrain and engraving by VIctor Canera in this ring:

You're welcome! If you Google Gladys, Gemfever and bezel you will find the thread. I believe it's a regular design in the collection of Brian Gavin.

It's stunning, isn't it!!! This ring (the Sophia with bezel) belongs to LGK. It's really pretty. Perhaps Victor could make a translated solitaire version. But there is no bezel solitaire on his site I believe so it would be a new design.

ERD did my reset with milgrain bezel and it looks amazing (IMO ;) ).

It is! I love it more everyday. I wasn't sure that it was possible for me to find my "one ring to rule them all" but I can't see myself ever resetting this ring. I was so impressed with ERD and although I got quotes from several wonderful PS vendors, I'm glad I worked with Chris because I think he really got what I wanted right off the bat.

I love that fine milgrain! When you have milgrain done, do you ask for a certain size/mm?

GemFever's stone was Audrey. Mine is Gladys (although when she has come back from her reset I think she might need a new name)!

I didn't tell them a size of milgrain. My inspiration ring was a rosé gold cushion that had been in SMTB. I asked for it to be similar. I only changed the petals in the basket.

It's a tool they can dial down how fine or how large the milgrain is. If you want it very fine, just tell them that you want it super fine, delicate milgrain".

My milgrain bezels on my Odd and Ends is by BGD as well.

yes, beautiful.

and yes, swoon. I'm beginning to think that my poor little 0.78 is going to look like a dot in a ring compared to these beauties.

and a comment on the milgrain - yes, a milgrain tool, I realized just recently, and NOT elves pasting tiny beads on the bezel.
I got a quote from one "good bezel" vendor for $45 to milgrain a bezel edge and then yesterday another "good bezel" vendor says it starts at $115. That's a lot to run a tool around a bezel [?!].

ps. is there a thread for this necklace, Gypsy?

I'm looking at the Odds & Ends in my jewelry box but unfortunately somehow they don't add up to much : ) Yours must be a treasure chest.

A pear would be beautiful.

I was so set on a bezel, but on reflection I hate to cover the girdle and the AGS number. I'm sure I am not the only person here who likes to sit in a sunny window and view diamonds from all angles =)
I did see that there are some halo-like settings where the diamond is set in prongs and the girdle can still be seen. So maybe I could have it set in prongs inside something that looks like a bezel?
Also- - - I am wondering if a prong setting would add some "goings on" to my diamond. Would the sides of a white gold prong reflect in the diamond and add any more flashes?

....wouldn't let me finish the edit. boo.
here are some other settings I've been looking at.40002_w_rnd_tab_140x102.png17987_w_rnd_tab_140x102.png17601_w_rnd_tab_140x102.png17258_w_rnd_tab_140x102.png

and here is a very inexpensive setting I just got from JA for a smaller stone and I was surprised at how much I like it. Great for stacking, too.I might have my new diamond set in one of these while I make up my mind.p1080010.jpg

I haven't seen that necklace before. It's freakin gorgeous! Love it.

Love that necklace Gypsy. So beautiful and refined  :appl:
I love it as is, but it would be just as gorgeous with a pear.

Love that last bezel/halo ring Jimmianne.
And yes it might be a good decision to go for an inexpensive design while you make up your mind. That JA setting is lovely!!!! It turn out to be your forever setting. It's a lovely classic and great for stacking too :appl:
Better to realise now that you are having doubts as it prevents you from choosing an expensive design you do not really like. Happy thinking!!! :read:

wise advice, Acinom.

I also had ERD make my engagement ring. :))

Hard to tell most of the pictures, but the shank is tapered.

Thank you everyone. I do love it because all the pieces in it (except for the bottom drop) are family/friend pieces. The round brilliants (small rounds) are from my mom's wedding band, the chain is an antique from my grandmother, and the smaller of the two OECs is from one of my best friends.

I love prong set halos. My engagement ring is set that way. I highly recommend it for asschers actually.
This one has nice pave: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/halo/14k-white-gold-0.39ct-diamond-halo-pave-engagement-ring-item-17422 Only thing I wish about that setting is that it was cathedral shank.

This one is much cheaper and pretty as well (and it is cathedral): http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/halo/18k-white-gold-pave-halo-and-shank-diamond-engagement-ring-round-center-item-17444

Gypsy, Yes! I saw it last night and considered getting it. It is a color below what I was looking for and has an inclusion on the table although it is eye-clean. What confuses me is the pricing... when I do a search on PS her asking price is in the range of what one would pay from a vendor - I know it's a great-looking diamond, but still I don't see it as a super deal. Perhaps I'm totally wrong and should jump on this. What is your opinion?
