Best bets for Antique/Used Emerald Cut E-Rings?

Hi all,

I know some of you have purchased pre-loved jewelry, so hoping you may be able to weigh-in.

I love emerald cuts... especially set in platinum with tapered baguettes ;)

Size matters to me. My fingers are kinda big (6.25 ring finger), so I want an emerald cut with larger width (and length) dimensions so that it appears substantial on my finger. I've been looking in the 2.5 carat to 3.25 carat range. I'd also prefer an H... maybe an I or whiter in terms of colour.

Since the setting is kind of classic, I was hoping i might be able to find an estate piece. Any suggestions for places that frequently have emerald cuts or any pieces out there you've seen that you'd recommend?

Do you think I could get what I'm looking for for less than $30k? Or am I crazy? What price range should I be saving for?

Any insight is appreciated!

Not the size you want, but I love this:

Some other kinda-but-not-really rings I found on a search:

I also checked Israel Rose, Dover, Jewels by Erica Grace, Good Old Gold, Oakgem, Bill Le Boeuf, Leigh Jay Nacht, Topazery, Doyle & Doyle, Betteridge, and Pearlmans, which didn't have anything that was right. I'd check all jewelers in your area, as most have small consignment and estate sections, and auction houses as well.

I kind of think it might just be easiest to get a new diamond and setting?

This one looks nice and you'd still have around 3k for a setting:

This looks like a good cut but is rather included:

Wow - thank you for looking into this and all the suggestions - I will keep an eye on the sites... I guess I will just have to be persistent. I keep finding what I'm looking for in *sold* items. Sigh.

There's essentially nothing for consignment/estate sales around my parts, unfortunately, so I'm stuck with what's available through the internet... or franchise mall jewellers (where I have not yet seen an emerald cut larger than 0.80 carats).

Thanks again!

Thanks! I've actually come across this ring... I spent some time staring at it wishing my ring finger could just be a size 2.5!

The ring can be sized you should call Grace.

Also won't they let up remove the stone and set it in the setting you liked?

Depends if its theirs or consignment. They have a review period too... You can visit for a few days at home :Up_to_something:

Sorry I should have been more clear. I was wishing my finger was a 2.5 because the diamond would look much more substantial on my finger!

I'm liking these. Thanks!

How do you guys think one of the emerald cuts would look in this setting? http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/designer-engagement-rings/platinum-double-claw-prong-engagement-ring-with-stunning-baguette-accents-item-17340

Is James Allen flexible with the diamond size in their settings? The pic shows a large ruby, but the setting info says it can only be set with diamonds up to 1.49 carats.

Do you think the emerald cut would look good in a setting like that? Any other suggestions?

Thanks again everyone! You are awesome!

ETA: I am not definitively stuck on tapered baguette sidestones. In fact bootsbri's emerald cut with trapezoids is one of my favorite ring's ever... but have never found a setting like it: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/just-engaged-emerald.176701/

You have already received some great suggestions (especially JBEG). Just wanted to add Single Stone to the list as they currently have a ring that may fit what you're looking for (not sure about the cost of the ring though as compared to your budget). I'd give more info, but sometimes 'lurkers' buy what's been recommended here before you have a chance to call. :nono:

Also, check with Diamonds by Lauren (DBL). I just found something on their site within your budget for the diamond, but doesn't leave hardly anything at for a setting.

JA does straight-up custom design, so I am sure they can - it just may not be the price pictured on the page.

I don't think they do custom design any more. I might be wrong but...

What I'd do.

Look at this ring: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-5-yr-anniversary-upgrade-2-52-emerald-cut-diamond.187820/ Asscher_girl's finger size is about the same as yours.

It's a GIA K.

I'd get a ring inspired by it.

How?

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11193/ Beautiful K EC. And it's a spready one. 3 carats. Price on it is $24,220

That leaves 6k for a setting.

As you can see from this thread: ERD has done a lovely inspired by setting that is very similar to Asscher_girl's. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/help-with-cads-for-my-ec-please.194129/page-2

So I'd work with ERD for a setting similar.

And it will come in under the 5,800 you have left in your budget.

:wavey:

You aren't going to find an 2+ carat GIA H or better in an antique or vintage stone with great performance in a great setting for under 30k. It's a needle in a haystack.

Thanks Gypsy! I guess I'll have to prioritize a bit. I'm not crazy about halos, personally, but I do that GOG diamond wowed me!!
Thanks again!

If you are considering a K I love the cut of this one and the table.

I love mine... Which is a K. Shows warmth and also is blazing white. Depends on the lighting! A great way to get the size you want.

The GOG diamond is nice too... :naughty:

Wow!

I love your ring! It it so elegant! Does it have a thread? Is it a custom setting?

Oh but yes... Just like a true PSer I did a thread...

Yes they do. Mine was custom. Plus a friend of mine is going though them and he was talking custom with them but is going a another route. This was just an option he was looking at with them last week.

As for their guidelines, they are loose about it. Ask them about it and they are usuall flexible.
