Beautiful Burmese Sapphire and Diamond Ring! Art Deco or Edwardian?

I stumbled upon this amazing 3 stone, vertical ring at a local jewelry store specializing in estate jewelry and immediately fell in love with this piece. The moment I tried it on, it felt like it was made for me; like it was a part of me. The center stone is a 2.5 ct unheated, Burmese, medium-blue sapphire with old mine cut diamond side stones set in 18K gold and platinum. The sapphire is much livelier in real life compared to the picture I took in the store since I am not an expert photographer.

Do you think this ring is Art Deco or Edwardian? The employee (who is also a seasoned gemologist who does appraisals) who sold it to me said she thinks it's Art Deco, but various other store employees said it might be Edwardian or somewhere in-between the Art Deco and Edwardian periods.

Also, is this vertical ring a dinner ring or an engagement ring? Does anyone know the historical significance of a ring like this? I have never seen anything like it!

Thank you! It is a gorgeous ring. I love it even if I may never know for sure if it is Art Deco vs. Edwardian. I like to imagine that it was worn by a well-to-do woman for candle-lit dinner parties like in Downton Abbey.

I don't think you can cut it and count the rings.

It may be Edwardian but it does not "look" like classic Edwardian to me -- I envision skeletonized, almost gossamer platinum. Also does not look like classic Deco to me, either, but more the latter than the former. But it seems of the era and is very pretty for sure! You can always call it "transitional."

Thank you! I suppose what matters more is that I love it vs. trying to figure out what era it is from since the eras can blend together. I am bringing it home in a couple months since I have it on layaway and will try to post more pictures once I have it.

It looks Art Nouveau (pre and overlapping with Edwardian, both occurred during the Belle Epoque) French. Do you see any stamps in the metal (on outside of shank if it’s French).

The Burmese sapphire is so beautiful and extremely rare! The diamonds appear white and gorgeous. I love this and I’d love to see more photos.

Thanks for your thoughts, @LightBright. I don't recall seeing any stamps or maker's marks in the metal shank of the ring. Yes, I am thrilled the center stone is a 2.5, unheated Burmese sapphire with old minute cut side stones! I have the ring on layaway, but once I finish paying for it I will post more photos when I bring it home in July.
