Hey all,
I received this tourmaline from Barry earlier this week - I ordered it after those couple
pretty peachy tourmalines were in the May drop..It''s 2.4cts..

Now, this is officially the first gem that has given me trouble to photo
accurately - I''ve never had a problem with any of my other stones, but despite my efforts
this one simply will not show it''s true colours !
IRL it''s a very delicate peachy pink colour - but in the photos it looks..gold?
It has awesome sparkle - I''m not sure if this is a normal facet of tourmalines, or Barry''s cutting,
or both - but it''s a serious sparkler..

I haven''t tried to photograph it in the sun yet, as there hasn''t been any all week

I will see how it shows up in natural light hopefully soon.

For now, here''s a bunch of pics is in the lightbox - granted, it could be my lighting imparting
some of the gold colour as I haven''t got anything special happening..

Oh and this is my first Barry round cut - I''m in love!

Lot''s of pics..

see what I mean about the colour? it''s really weird!

It does look very gold... Quite strange.
But it''s pretty.

To show how different it can look, here''s the same spot with flash -
this is darker than I see though - so the real thing is a combo between the two,
if you can imagine that, lol..

for reference, here is one of Barry''s pics - this is almost exactly what I see in person.

Hey kribbie - I know, it''s so strange - I''ve never come across this kinda thing before,
usually I find my pics are pretty darn close.

Maybe it''s just shy.

It''s already warming to the camera. I''m loving the color in the latest pics!

And here''s about as close as I got..

It looks like a lively, bright stone.

Maybe you need sunlight to capture its true colour? I am looking forward to more photos.

Here''s some more gold-y ones jff..

Kribbie, I actually really like the colour in the pics (although I like the real life colour better
though)

Hey LG! It is really bright, and def. sparkly..
I like it alot.

I will take some pics when I get some sun to compare for sure -
winter decided to come on here all of a sudden, and it''s been crazy stormy all week - and very cold!

Hmmm... I think I might start looking around for a golden tourmaline.

thx Hunter - actually, none yet - except for that it will be a ring.
I am thinking it should go in WG though, what do you think?

thankyou weegem!

A great stone! Regarding metal choice, I know most will say yellow gold, but I think even white can look lovely, assuming there are no brown or grey secondaries. If the color is...gentle (for the lack of a better word), and looks apricotish, either metal can work. Heck, I think even rose gold might work with this color, to make it blushy.

I''m loving all of barry''s stone.. they are gorgeous, and this is one yummy peach.. I know what you mean,, it took me forever and half to get the right shots for my little tourmaline to look like his photo.

I vote rose gold! I think it''s gorgeous!

Very pretty!
Yeah, I find pink-peachy stones tricky to photograph sometimes too, I don''t what the camera does to make it so difference from what we see. But I had a tough time photographing my malaya and pad (though it was a fun time trying!).

It looks so nice though, I really need to get a Barry stone one day, love his cuts.

I love it! It''s beautiful. It looks like it has some personality too. I can''t wait to see it set. I''m going to vote for white gold. It looks like it has enough color to hold it''s own. Or maybe if you want a vintage look, unplated 14k white gold.

That is pretty! Peach pink stones never photograph well for me, but I''m sure it''s a gorgeous stone in person!

It''s gorgeous AJ, I love the different color shifts it has. Barry cuts are so darn beautiful. Any ideas how you will set it?

It''s sort of funny that it''s showing all sorts of colours except the one in Barry''s picture.

Pretty stone! I second Gypsy w/the unplated wg!

Love the color.

well, what a difference the daylight makes!
So it appears my tourm doesn''t like halogens, but she does like the sun

This is still not *exactly* what I see irl (it''s still prettier)but it''s very close..
truth be told, I''m really digging the colour shift on it!

I don''t believe I''ve ever seen one except in pics, but this stone reminds me of what I imagine a pad colour is..

I love the way the facets light up in Barry''s cuts!
I cannot wait to get another one..

Thankyou all who have commented so far - and I love the idea of unplated WG - I honestly
think that will be perfect with this girl. I don''t have an idea for setting yet - but most
likely will go to Sally sometime in future.

so warning, this is a lil pic-heavy as I enjoyed the challenge of trying to capture
this gem''s true colour..(and being out in the sun)

looking rosey..

sorry if these are a lil repetitive - I was a bit scared of doing a full on
photo shoot with this one as I''d already dropped it a couple times
