Average Carat Size????

Wow, Im new to Pricescope but have enjoyed reading all the posts - I am amazed at how big a lot of your rings are!

This has prompted me to ask 'what is the average carat size of an diamond engagement ring?'

I live in the uk and have just recieved a beautifull 0.57 carat diamond solitaire engagement ring and where I come from that seems a good size - it seems small compared to most on here tho! lol!

Keep in mind people with larger diamonds may be more likely to mention their carat weight.

This would skew anyone's perception of the true average diamond size of all posters.

Your ring sounds lovely! Have you posted pictures somewhere?

Our biggest thread on P'scope (by far) is the One Carat and Under thread. Average size is different in different countries and even in one country sometimes (different parts of the US differ a great deal) but I know there are plenty of girls who would love to have a ring just like yours.

There also may be a difference between ave size based on when the stone was bought. The price of a diamond with my specs has increased 40%. No way I would been able to get a stone as big as what I have now. I feel that people may be going smaller these days.

A couple of years ago another forum member gathered a lot of information about the average size diamonds for PS members. It's not as high as you'd think if you're first cruising around Show Me The Bling.

This was a poll of forum members, people who have signed up and joined in a discussion about a shiney rock which sits on your finger. We probably have larger and nicer stones than the average Joe Blow because we care about diamonds and rocks.

It's 1.09. And most posters are from the US where diamonds are generally larger than other countries.
