STILL AVAILABLE over at Good Old Gold, those sparkly minxes have some new Asschers I''d never seen before. 2.26 .. 2.2ish

Decodelighted.... You little temptress
11.gif
I had to go over and have a peek at those beauties...They look luscious.
30.gif
...I wonder if I made the right choice... Once you hit the 2c. mark, they can''t cost too much more, can they?
33.gif

Hee hee ... I cry uncle anytime I see ''call for price''
3.gif
so I have NO idea. I LOVE LOVE LOVE ''yours'' though!

Would be curious how Stmdr would weigh in about the 2.26 though just on a ''intellectual curiosity'' mission (I mean - QUEST

)
11.gif

That 2.26 is one of the best iv ever seen offered.
But its likly $10k+ higher than the 2.04

An update on potential asscher ring purchase. I hope you can help.

Storm and decodelighted alerted me to the 2.26 F VVS2
11.gif
and you''re probably thinking, what could be the problem with this diamond?

The only problem is the medium fluoresence of a stone which I''m hoping to place in a baguette/ trap halo design. The setter thinks the fluoresence will diminish the colour and instead of looking like an F, it will look like an H or I in the bezel- type setting.

Has anyone found this to be the case?

Thanks for your help.

not that I have ever seen or heard of.
Ask Jon or Tim about it they will have seen a ton of bezel mount stones.

Thanks, Storm.

I called Tim and he thought the idea was crazy. He has seen this diamond and said that it was fabulous and that a halo setting shouldn''t affect the colour perception at all. The only problem with that is that GOG doesn''t want to attempt the bag/trap halo setting. They were kind enough to send drawings of what they could do as far as the setting was concerned, but I think I have my mind made up to go with Quest.

I sent Quest the drawing that valeria had created and posted and Pete thought they could replicate the design into the setting for "my" asscher, but didn''t recommend going with the med. fluoresence of the 2.26.

He did agree to bring in the 2.26 and have a look at it, but apparently now it''s out on memo!

What''s a girl to do???

Stay tuned for further updates.

Are ya still set on the baq./trap halo if you get a 2.26 carat stone??? I''d let that sucker shine on it''s own. (in a split shank pave mounting, or with bag. or trap or bullet sidesstones only)

I can''t think of a halo-owner with medium flor off-hand, but that would be a lot to remember about a ring!

Honestly ... if you''re still doing halo, I think either of the 2.0? stones would be FABULOUS. 2.26 in a halo = approaching overkill? (JMHO!!)

My asscher has strong blue flouro and it''s gorgeous!!!

Decodelighted...Your input is always welcome.

Suppose the 2.26 asscher becomes available again
36.gif
, the reason I was still going with the halo is that my finger (RH) is a hefty size 8. Do you still think that would be overkill?

My other thought for the elusive 2.26 was traps on either side, but thought that would look too much like an engagement ring. Any other ideas are welcome.

The way my luck is going right now, both the 2c asschers will be gone as well

Im short on time so not waiting for an answer to the above but was it quest that said they are out on memo?
Yea they are to Jon.
Jon would be nuts to let either of the 3 go back so if they are going to be bought its going to be from him.
My prediction is that all 3 will be sold in the next couple weeks one way or the other.
You can buy the diamond from GOG and have quest make the setting.

It could be that Im reading it wrong and its GOG that has them out to a client but if not then it applies.

Thanks for the vote of confidence for fluoresence in a bezel setting. Your ring is absolutely gorgeous, kaleigh.

On a more important note, please accept my condolences in the passing of your beloved Nanny. You were truly blessed to have such a gutsy lady in your life. My mom was in a nursing home for 12 years and endured much the same teatment as your Nanny. They stole everything they could possibly carry including a large Royal Doulton figurine (which she insisted she wanted to have there) and plenty of cash. Being an independent woman, she HAD to have cash hidden away somewhere. They always found it.

I''m glad to hear that your eulogy will include many humorous incidents, and will celebrate the joy she gave you.

Wellll. It''s certainly a matter of personal taste & style & other jewelry & lifestyle etc....

I''m 38, not much jewelry, clean simple clothes ... with (gasp
23.gif
) size 10 finger/sausages -- super pale to boot
14.gif
!! . I tried on a few Asscher/Halo combos with 1.5-ish centerstones ... and my comment at the time was "Viva Las Vegas". It was cocktail-ring time. Way too GLAM & WHAM for moi! And that was smaller than the smallest you''re considering! Though -- mine was for an engagement ring -- so keep that in mind!

As for suggestions -- I mentioned that I love split shank or split crown settings with large Asschers! Even a three stone ring might look VERY nice and not too engagement ring-ish.

If you''re dying for that baq/trap halo though - by all means DO IT! I''m sure it''ll be entirely

Thanks for your interest, Storm. Yes, it was Quest who told me the 2.26 was out on memo.

I''ve just put in a call to GOG to find out if they''ve got it, but unfortunately Jon was not "working in the office" today, and Tim had gone out for a while.I left a message for him to call back when he comes in.

I''ll keep you posted. Hope you''re right on this one too!!!

Thanks again.

I don''t think the 2.26 assch in a halo on a size 8 finger would be overkill. I think it could look divine. My stone is a 1.5 ct pear in a halo and my finger size is similar. Don''t forget the asscher will look smaller for its size than the rb or pear would. Here''s how mine looks on my paws.

Thanks for your input, decodelighted and FireGoddess.

I love large jewelry pieces; I admit it

To give you an idea, my current RHR is an 8 c tanzanite flanked with two .50c tapered baguettes on each side and I think it''s just the right size!!

I hadn''t even thought that the 2.26 asscher with halo would be overkill until deco mentioned it.

The feathers I ruffled were those of another jeweller whom I had not consulted regarding the 2.03, 2.04 and 2.26 discussions.

He questioned my intelligence in asking PS''ers to comment on diamonds which I thought might be contenders and he also offered lower prices to lure me from my present path.

He reprimanded me for considering another jeweller,as, in all fairness to him, I had consulted with his firm earlier, and had received superior service, but not the diamond I was looking for.

It was definitely the manner in which he stated his points, many of which were valid ,that bothered me most. I replied several hours later to his e-mail explaining my thoughts on the matter, he apologized, I accepted the apology and that''s where we stand - feathers hopefully smoothed.
