A light at the end of the tunnel!!!

After the negative reponses received on the 1.88 asscher, I was back to square one and totally bummed out. I checked my e-mail after lunch and there was a message from Tim at GOG saying that the 2.04 was still available!!!!!

This was the stone that indecisive had called my attention to (I think it was indecisive), and that Storm had deemed "kicken".

I wish I knew how to link to it, but I''ll provide a brief description and a picture:

Square Emerald Cut

7.05 x 7.02 x 4.78mm

VS1 clarity

F colour

Depth: 68.1%

Table: 62%

Girdle: Very Thick

Polish @Sym: X, X

Flu: None

Your comments are welcome!!!

Storm - A BIG THANKYOU to you for all the help you''ve provided on my many asscher threads!!
36.gif

indecisive- thank you as well for finding this particular stone.
17.gif

decodelighted- Thanks for your honesty in steering me away from the "wonky" 1.88 asscher.
27.gif

kaleigh- Thanks for your thumbs down on the 1.88 before I took the plunge.(I prefer that to TH''s "pull the trigger")
21.gif

TierHog- Thanks for your valuable input. I hope this asscher will be as photogenic as the King Royal.
35.gif

Valeria- Your baguette/trap halo design is the setting I''m going with. Any idea what the side view would look like? You have great design skills so that''s why I''m asking (begging?) you.
33.gif

Gypsy- You will definitely have your baguette/trap halo ring first and I''m looking forward to many pics.
30.gif

Rhino- I had no idea what you were talking about when you said you weren''t Luke''s father, but Tim explained the trekkie reference to me.
31.gif

I hope I haven''t forgotten anyone, but if I have THANK YOU!
17.gif

Now onward to the setting: Quest or Mark M??? I have to admit I''m leaning toward Quest because of the posts I''ve read here about MM''s designs being very pricey.

Gypsy - Thanks for your vote of confidence on the 2.04.

Are you having your asscher set by Quest or someone else?

I had the bag/trap halo priced by Quest for the 1.88c and I thought their price was very reasonable.

As I recall from your earlier posts, you didn''t buy your asscher at Quest so i was wondering if they''re willing to set a stone bought elsewhere?

Yes, they will set it if you send it to them. They are reasonable, aren''t they? And yes, as soon as I can get to the bloody appraiser I''ll be sending this puppy off to Pete. (Appraiser called this morning and cancelled appointment for the day and said he couldn''t reschedule for the next month!!! Had family emergency, apparently. Will probably post for a new appraiser recommendation this week. What a pain. But it needs to be done before I send it off. Just hope the platium prices don''t rise too much in the interim).

Would be curious how Stmdr would weigh in about the 2.26 though just on a "intellectual curiosity" mission (I mean - QUEST

Just for discussion's sake.
12.gif

IF I had the budget for a 2+ carat asscher... I would DEFINITELY look at the one on this page. It looks amazing and is probably a 'real' (vintage circa 1920's) asscher.
23.gif

I'd at least call for a price. (But then I'm one of those geeks that would love a vintage diamond more than a perfect 'new' one).
9.gif

Decodelighted...I''m going to be loyal to my 2.04c!

When I saw that the 2.26c has medium fluoresence, I sort of lost interest. I remember while doing some reading on asschers that fluoresence is not great in a colourless diamond. Who knows, this one may be fine, but I''ll let you check into it...on your"intellectual curiosity mission" hee hee.

Everyone here on PS has been so helpful and friendly during my entire "asscher angst" and I feel very satisfied with the decision we''ve made.

this one here gives the 2.04 a run for its money they are near twins with the 2.03 the slightly bigger of the 2.

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2028/
What about the medium fluorescence, storm?

Most high colored stones Med makes no difference except maybe in full sunlight and the sky color is more often the cause rather than the med flour of the blue color.
Id rather have strong or very strong I think its way kewl as long as it dont turn it oily.
In lower colors Id like atleast some but either way its down my list of wants behind a lot of other things its just not that big an issue in the appearance of the diamond.

You cant go wrong with either the 2.03, 2.04 and other than higher price the 2.26 all 3 are kicken.
imho you would love all 3 in person.

Storm... Thanks for the info on fluorescence.

That 2.03 definitely would look a little larger.... and might be about the same price as the 2.04...
33.gif

As for the 2.26 - absolutely tempting,
30.gif
but at 10k more???? Mortgage the house, sell the cat (He wouldn''t fetch much as he requires meds twice a day.
9.gif
)

I wish I was able to see them all in person; however, severe arthritis in my right leg limits my travel options somewhat.
14.gif

I know! The good folks at GOG could send them to me on memo!
36.gif

Okay, I''ll stop fantasizing now...

Hi deco... You were the temptress that made me look at the 2.26
11.gif
and then storm added his positive comments which tempted me further... What''s an old girl to do??? Save the $$$$ for a nursing home
31.gif
? Not in this lifetime!!! I have kids earning six figure incomes, they can pay
9.gif
!

I know!!! We''ll split the cost three ways and each of us can wear the ring for 4 months a year!
36.gif
Can you imagine the impact of the 2.26 with a bag/ trap halo????

Be still my heart!!!!!
