Hi JL...Even though I''ve just bought an asscher doesn''t mean I''m an expert, but this one doesn''t speak to me either.

If you can go to 3c and would like to use the asscher as an e-ring (as you mentioned), I have a favourite on file. Tell me what you think of this...

.This would by my next upgade, no question. Sorry, I don''t know the designer, but I''m pretty sure anyone could copy it - it''s pretty generic.

I am well aware that comparing the spread of RB and asschers are like comparing apples to oranges.

I think asschers lovers are captivated by the magic of the stone - it just draws u in and I can''t quite figure out why

I think mara''s spread reference was made with regards to my question abt a smaller asscher looking good in the cartier repro setting we love. I was lamenting that we need to go up to a BIGGER carat weight in order to show that ring off to maximum potential

This 2.47ct asscher does have the spread of my 1.56RB. Is that an issue for me? Maybe. I can''t lie and say that I wouldn''t prefer a stone with more spread, but I am prepared to compromise on the spread if I find the asscher of my dream. Does it need to be 5ct? No, though it would be nice

Do I think about how nice it would be to upgrade my RB to a bigger RB and THEN go to an asscher from there? Yes, definitely. I know an asscher is somewhere in my future (talk about looking into the crystal ball!), but I also know that I am willing to wait for the perfect one, because hey, I started off a RB girl and I still adore them to bits.

Can anyone say I-N-D-E-C-I-S-I-V-E?

Haha I remember that asscher mockup I did for mara - I actually used that big honking asscher from the cartier repro setting to do it

Regarding the setting, hmm, I need to think about it over the wkend and decide what I want. I have been bitten by paying loads for a style of setting I really really wanted and then it didn't quite turn out well. Correction - it came out great but disintegrated afterwards. I'm more wary of putting more money towards the setting now

because yes, putting more money towards the stone will be nice

The picture u posted looks similar to an asscher with traps by Leon Mege too. I love that one as well!

ETA: Plus I am loving my EC in its solitaire setting, and sometimes, simple is best (i think??)

Sorry for worrying u!

I don''t really want to beat a dead horse, so I won''t go into it. But if you have a good jeweller with integrity, you shouldn''t have a problem with your setting.

I was just saying I am thinking twice about plonking a significant amt of money on the setting instead of on the stone. That said, the setting you picked is gorgeous and that''s what started me on an asscher quest again

. However, I need to decide what I really want, so that''s MY issue, and nothing to do with your gorgeous setting!

Jade, I have totally thought about upgrading my next stone to an asscher instead of a RB .... you never know in another 8 years or so I may want a big asscher! and maybe by then I can cajole my husband into a 4c asscher or something instead of a 3.25ish RB. wonder how they''d compare price wise. that mockup you did for me was the best EVER!!! loved seeing that on my finger...even just virtually.
