Are high karat gold chains more fragile?

I’m in the market for a large Victorian locket and was wondering if my high karat gold chain is too fragile for such heavy pieces? For reference, I’m looking at lockets around 1.25-1.5” tall at minimum, excluding the bail. My chain is this one. The links are about 4mm wide, but 22k and delicate. Will I need a heavier chain?

I have a lot of high karat jewelry and without seeing the locket, I wouldn't want to guess. I did want to tell you that I love your chain. It is really beautiful. Were you planning to remove the pendant with the Christmas tree shown in the picture?
