Gypsy, thank you so much for this link. I really appreciate that you share good ebay links with us, may I ask you for deals you may find for a solitaire but on a 2.5k budget?

Thank you!

Hahahaha. I asked for that didn't I.

What styles does the wearer like?
What is the wearers ring size?
What metal color does the wearer want?
What shape of diamond does the wearer want.
And what size stone are you thinking for the budget?

Also, does it have to be a solitaire?

How about a three stone (you would have to ask this seller for specifics on the stones such as dimensions of each of the diamonds, color and clarity of each of the stone on the GIA scale) like this. I adore this ring, personally. I can't tell you how good the price is until you get specifics on the diamonds, but the faceting on the stones and the setting is really lovely. You can best offer for it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221829635474?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Settings with sidestones are a possibility as well; there are some nice ones. And I even have a potentially nice halo bookmarked.

You would have to check the prices on these against other stones to gauge pricing. I did not do that for you on these. I can help you once you narrow the choices down. Also, you need to research the sellers. If you do not know to do so, ask.

Solitaire. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Deco-Old-European-Cut-Diamond-Platinum-Engagement-Ring-Antique-Vintage-Solitaire-/121966785770?hash=item1c65c974ea:g:sKIAAOSwyTZUVomu

You would have to have these authenticated:

See if they will negotiate this one down to your budget of 2,500: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORANGE-BLOSSOM-0-68ct-OLD-EUROPEAN-DIAMOND-EGL-PLATINUM-ART-DECO-ENGAGEMENT-RING-/231928998044?hash=item36000ba89c:g:UKUAAOSw8-tWXU1S It IS EGL USA, which we do not recommend except for old cuts on occasion (like this), but it is the best of the EGL labs, so that means it's could be a GIA J Vs2. Still and all the stone looks very clean and the faceting looks nice and that's really all that matters given the fact that the price includes that platinum setting. The setting is GORGEOUS with fantastic quality single cuts, mirror finish and those fishtail prongs are to die for!

Hey Gypsy,

Thank you so much for all these links and your advice. I really appreciate your help!!! I was too busy with life and I didn't get back to you. I do apologize.

What styles does the wearer like?
Not sure how to describe it but something simple like: http://www.bluenile.com/preset-petite-solitaire-engagement-ring-14k-white-gold_50901?action=14kWhiteGoldSelect&referrer=customizer&track=alternate-metalsCustomizer

But if it comes with sides, I would rather keep them to the minimum. http://www.bluenile.com/petite-diamond-engagement-ring-preset-14k-white-gold_50889?track=similarItems&elem=offer

The diamond shape is not too important.

What is the wearers ring size?

Ideally 7

What metal color does the wearer want?

White gold

What shape of diamond does the wearer want.

The diamond shape is not too important.

And what size stone are you thinking for the budget?
from 0.7

Thanks again gypsy!!!

Okay so.

Why do you say shape isn't important?

Most women have VERY strong opinions on the shape of their engagement ring stones.

She's a size seven. Your budget is 2500 (is there any give?). And you would like a 70 point stone, ideally.

White metal.

blue nile links do not work. download the pictures then upload them here please.

On the iPad if you hold down on 5he BN link and select open in new tab that works. Same with right clicking a mouse.

You definitely know what you're doing, I really have to ask about the shape then... Honestly this is for someone in a different country with a different culture where most diamonds are either round or square shaped.

The budget can go to $3k.

What country and what culture, please? You'd be surprised how important that is.

As for shape. Yes, most women have VERY strong opinions. No matter where they are. And asking will make them feel cared for.

It's Tunisia. A culture with a mixture of Arab, Italian, French, Turkish... You name it.

Nevertheless I did ask and it seems like there is a bigger tendency towards the round shape.

I hope the new links worked.

I inquired about this ring a few months ago and this was the information I was given, if it helps:

Good morning. Thank you for contacting The Castle Jewelry and for your interest in this beautiful ring. The center stone is SI1 in clarity and J in color; the side stones are SI1-2 and H-I in color. The center stone is a very typical Old European Cut diamond. Most of the diamonds that were cut before the 1920's (when they started cutting the Round Brilliant, which is what is normally cut in today's age) tend to have a little bit more body color to them, resulting in the J color. But the center stone faces up extremely bright and white and all three stones are completely eye-clean.

Please feel free to let me know any other questions that you may have!

Okay so, I think you are okay without high color and clarity then.

This is a gorgeous overall ring. We don't usually recommend EGL, but on ebay EGL USA is much better than nothing. And it will likely be at least an I color, the setting is platinum, and it is definitely clean. Plus that head will give the illusion of a much larger center stone.

You would have to have this sized, but I think it's a beautiful ring (as a whole): http://www.ebay.com/itm/231962464005?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Ask them if they take 2500 for it. Should cost you about 100 to size, make sure they don't take the "Taub Orange Blossom" hallmark off it, it adds to the provenance of it.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/401005180299?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Then there is this one. I severely doubt that the stone is an H, but I would expect it to be a J, and that's going to be very nice in an old cut, and if they say it's VS then it is definitely eyeclean, which is the minimum you need. The faceting is very nice on the center, it's big and the setting and sidestones look really nice as well too. Under budget. And no sizing required.

I think it's a fantastic fit for you.

Hi,

So we could finally make a decision on the setting. It costs $700 so I would end up with $2-2.5k.

http://goo.gl/WqyXWr

What would you do please, would you recommend going for 3/4ct and pay 2900 or maybe picking a stone for better value?

http://goo.gl/4QvlSV

Feel free to suggest a stone that goes with that setting please. If the stone won't be from blue nile, do you how much it costs to put it at an independent jeweler?

Thank you!

Start a new thread, someone will help you. Try to be appreciative, say things like "thank you" when someone takes hours to hunt down options for you and posts links for you to review and comment on, and respond promptly to posts, do not take weeks to respond and then completely ignore and the time and effort someone has already spent helping you. That's how you show respect for the volunteers who spend time in here helping people free of charge.

You've really not been very respectful of my time at all. So I'm sorry, but I am going to help others who are polite and respectful and appreciative.

If you do a basic search of what factors make a good round (there are literally thousands on threads on here on the subject), you should be able to figure it out yourself. Which might be for the best.

Best of luck to you. I won't be posting again in your threads.

Gypsy, I completely respect your decision, but if you look again at my posts, there is not a single one without a "thank you" except for when I was still logged in and I had to answer a prompt question. A forum is not a chat room, I assume that the asynchronous aspect makes it acceptable to post at one's convenience.

Nevertheless, I do appreciate your help and the time you spend to help me and others, but if you think again about the flow of the conversation you would find out that my last post came as a response to your comments that there is usually a strong preference on the shape of the diamond and so. Therefore, I tried to limit the scope of my research in my last post but most importantly I did say thank you! You were not the only user who responded, so I thanked every single one. Even though your contribution was the most valuable.

I'm not ignoring anything, but when I noticed redundant links from you, I figured it would be a good idea to be more specific about what I'm looking for. That's what happened and again, I've always said thank you and I'm still grateful regardless to the decision that you've just taken.

I apologize that you felt that I wasn't very respectful, it was really not my intention.

Thank you!
