I literally just told my husband last week, after decorating the trees, that I just want to put them in the extra bedroom as-is and pull them out that way next year. He resisted at first, but now agrees (thank goodness). I am now looking for a Christmas tree stand with rollers.

YAAAASSSSSS!!!!

I had an aunt (actually a great GREAT aunt since she was great-grandmother's sister-in-law) who put up the tree one year and just never took it down. Said fvck it come new years and threw a sheet over it. At Thanksgiving the turkey would come out of the oven and the sheet would come off. Voila! :cheeky:

Your great aunt sounds amazing. ;-)

Alabama has some of the best songs!! Do you live in the South??!! :))

They really do! I'm in the Seattle area. Had to drive to Spokane to see them, but it was so worth it!

Oh, wow! I didn’t even know they still toured! They are from Fort Payne, AL, which is about 90 miles from where we live. :geek2: Funny story... my stepmother is also from that area and went to college at Jacksonville State University with Randy Owen. They went out on several dates together. She said he was even more handsome then! Kinda crazy!

More handsome!?! Lucky her!

I had no idea they still toured until I saw the sign for upcoming concerts when I went to see the Charlie Daniels Band. I may have squealed out loud! Bought my tickets from my phone sitting there after meeting Charlie Daniels! That was an awesome day!

I need to see if they’ll be playing here anytime soon! I’d LOVE to see them live!

DESPISE IT. I will TOLERATE it for up to 36 hours on Dec 24-25, but that's it.

Dropping in to say that I LOVE IT. Every year I would sing it for hours at concerts and then go caroling afterward and my cheeks would be flush with the rush of spreading Christmas cheer!

Basically...I was your worst nightmare!!:lol::lol::evil2::evil2::evil2::lol::lol::lol:

God, yes... I refuse to enter ANY store except to buy "card holder" greeting cards for those receiving gift cards. I think I'll say it one more time: "CARDS"

@msop04 , Trust me, you will actually love some of these songs when it’s your daughter doing the singing. I can’t wait to hear my niece sing the songs you learned in preschool this week. They are so much more enjoyable when sung by a little one you love. LOL.

Oh, I think it's cute as can be when she sings pretty much anything... it's the radio and loudspeaker that I can't tolerate. LOL

Caroling is the thing! The music - a far second concern to the raiding.

I like to look at the trees, but putting them up and decorating them really exacerbates my OCD and anxiety. I told my husband when we get a bigger house, I want a room with enough storage space to simply slide fully decorated trees out and then slide them back in each year.
We do this with our smaller trees! It helps!

Many years ago there was a lady at my TJMaxx that freaked out during the song Feliz Navidad. She was a nice lady who worked there during the year at the fitting room. That year she freaked out screaming that if she heard that song one more time she was going to kill someone! This was at the top of her lungs and she looked crazed..It was scary! The store manager and other people had to drag her to the back office...I never saw her again after that..I think about her every Christmas when I hear that song.

It might make me look bad but I don’t enjoy the holidays. Nor holiday music and movies. Pretty much anything relating to Christmas. I don’t talk about it much because it offends people.

Hanukkah doesn’t seem to have bad music. Do the other holidays have saccharine music?

I put myself through undergrad by working a second job in retail (yep two full-time jobs plus full-time school) and grew to loathe the holiday music that looped endlessly over the loudspeakers.

I can totally understand the woman who lost it in the fitting room! I bet she was relieved to be fired!

I totally understand people loathing Christmas/Holiday music when forced to listen to it on an ongoing basis months every year. Just wanted to add IMO Hanukkah music is not (for the most part) as catchy and lovely to listen to as Christmas music but it depends on your perspective I guess. No one is forced to listen to Hanukkah music for very long (with good reason haha) so it could be partly due to that reason that one doesn't find it tiring to listen to but from my perspective I chose Christmas tunes over Hanukkah tunes any day. And I respect and enjoy Jewish Tradition so mean no disrespect by saying I don't love Hanukkah music. Except for a few tunes and Dreidel dreidel dreidel is one of the catchier tunes.

I agree. I try not to let people know what a Scrooge I am.
I'm not sure how I got this way, maybe all the commercialization and $$$$ has finally registered with me.

My son sings Christmas music all year (He’s Autistic)..because he loves Christmas. He loves the whole package with the decorating, lights..etc..Now we have the Christmas music station going every minute he’s home..His favorite movie is the Grinch..(first one).. I enjoy Christmas but the music does get to me.. He’s so happy that I just try to block it out...If you hear anything for that long it can make you crazy..
My daughter-in-law is Jewish...We both don’t like the Adam Sandler’s Hanukkah song..His voice grates on my nerves..I can’t even watch his movies now...I blocked it out so can’t remember the name of the song..sigh..

I ignore the commercialism and just enjoy the (classic) holiday music for what it is...commercialism has taken over (and is behind most) the holidays in general and I refuse to let that spoil it for me. I take the good and leave the bad and we enjoy it on our terms. Otherwise I'd go crazy too with all the expected obligations and such. We do what works for us. Being this age has provided me with some wisdom at least...:P2

Aww how sweet and yes seeing it from other's (more innocent) eyes can bring a whole fresh new and happy perspective about the holidays in general!:appl:
(and I agree ugghhh to Adam Sandler's voice singing that song lol).

It has become so commercialized..and the tipping is crazy..I’m a people pleaser so always want to make everyone feel appreciated..but the Christmas tipping is outrageous..I’m throwing money everywhere and it’s so expected..I don’t even get a thank you. I got the best thank you from the girl that cleans my house in Pa the other day. She doesn’t speak English so I always go through her boss to tell her something or we do hand charades. The girls that come with her speak Spanish so assumed she was Spanish. I wrote her a note in her Christmas card thanking her for everything she does..but I used a translater and wrote it in longhand in the card. She opened the card and burst out laughing because she didn’t understand what I wrote. We were literally laughing our heads off..We had to then put it through the translator on my phone for Portuguese! She gave me the biggest hug and said it was her best present..that I tried to tell her in her language how much I appreciated her. Sometimes it’s the smallest things other than a gift that means the most.

That is where I would draw the line and no gift for that person next year...not even a thank you? That is not acceptable IMO. No one is entitled to any Christmas/Holiday gift. And when one is thought of and receives a gift one should say thank you. ::)

@Mamabean I totally agree with your tagline.

They are the supervisors in my son’s sheltered job..You would think they would know better...The bus drivers for him and the aides on the bus..same thing...I feel I have to thank them for helping him throughout the year but not one thank you in six years! One of his supervisors asks me all the time to adopt her and tells me when her birthday is coming up but I always laugh..and ignore her obvious request for a birthday present! So tacky!

Doesn't offend me at all... I get you. I like the idea of the holidays, if they weren't so commercialized and stressful. As is, I tend to get pretty stressed out until it's over.
