I found them in an old jewelry box, I was gonna toss them thinking they were glass but I decided to test them anyway, I did a specific gravity test 3.5, glows green under short wave uv light, scratches glass easily, fog clears up instantaneously but fails the diamond newspaper test, what are these?20190820_061828.jpg20190820_061404.jpg20190822_041917.jpg20190821_132950~2.jpg20190820_163232.jpg

More likely than not, your pair of stones are colored gemstones (or possibly lab/synthetic) ... you may wish to hit the "Report Concern" and ask the Moderator to move this thread over to Colored-Stones ... based on the photos, they could be Spinels, Morganite, Garnet, Rose de France Amethyst ... if you are really interested and can spare the money, send them to AGL Lab in NYC for a Gem Brief report http://aglgemlab.com/

Thank you for your help maryam:)
I almost started dancing yesterday thinking I found 3.5 carat pink diamonds until I did the newspaper test lol.

Is the green image a reaction to a UV light source ? Do both stones behave similarly?

Yes, they both turn kryptonite green under sw uv light that barely even works, it's a cheap sw uv light I bought online a while back.

I think you are probably right, being they are flawless and both have the same reaction to sw uv light.
Thanks for your help Texas.
Steve.

Screenshot_20190822-081959_Chrome.jpg strike out on spinel but I'm still betting they are synthetic.

I've seen some fluoresce green.

Are you sure about the UV light source? SW torch is unusual I think.

It's just a little short wave uv flashlight for minerals.

It would be interesting to know how they behave under LW.

I dont know much about gemstones, semi precious I'm more familiar with, I prospect fire agates out here in az.

Synthetic spinel, mystic heavily treated topaz?

I dont have a long wave, I do need to get one and a new sw uv light lol.

Topaz, maybe I should look into that, thanks arkieb1.

I have to ask is that a lizard in your avatar?

They breed them all different colors here, some are called fancy dragons with wild beautiful colors, that big fella I fell in love with when I walked by his aquarium in the pet shop, he was bobbing his head and all I could picture was that Ozzy Osbourne music was playing in his aquarium, kind of like us stuck in an elevator but with better music lol. Plus when I stuck my hand to the glass he came over and put one of his hands/claws on the glass as well.:D

He’s cute and looks like he likes to snuggle

there is no such animal as a cheap SW UV light.
The cheapies are longer wave than gemologists LW

Could it be that color-changing Zandrite glass? Have you looked at them under fluorescent lighting?

I got it on Amazon, everything else saying SW uv was expensive I agree, this was like 15$ so maybe they were dishonest I dont really know.

I dont think its glass because it scratches glass pretty easily.

CZ it is, thank you everyone for helping this rookie out. Take care
Steve.
