Anyone heard of Diamond Line

I'm about to get my engagement ring made with Diamond Line in Melbourne but I was wondering if anyone on here has dealt with them before. I would love to hear about your experience with them, good and bad. They seem to be a wholesaler. Just want to make sure we're not making the wrong choice!

No. Never heard of them.

You ARE making a wrong choice if they are calling themselves a wholesaler but selling to you if you are not a business that retails diamonds.
Them lying like this is a huge red flag.

I recommend you buy from reliable honest vendors like goodoldgold, whiteflash, briangavindiamonds, or jamesallen.

Perhaps they buy diamonds at wholesale prices. They then sell it onto you, the public. They are a retailer. They probably don't have to pay the high rent and therefore can sell at a cheaper price. Hence, they may SEEM like a wholesaler.

Agree with Kenny. With your budget ( one for the diamond& another for the setting) have a look at those vendors he mentioned. Don't forget there will be the 10% Gst that you will have to pay when it comes back to AUS. What u will get is a diamond that has been scrutinized for light performance (what most ppl will notice) at a better price than it is here. I think there is only one diamond dealer in aus that does this- jorgio diamonds. They have IS images.

I hope other AUS, ppl will chime in.

If u want, post your diamond and setting budget on here in a different thread, and some of the lovely ppl on here will help you with your search. Note, when u find something u like from what they have posted, put it on hold. There are other ppl that read these forums (lurkers) who may also like the stone and put it on hold before you do.

Most importantly, enjoy the process.

I checked their website and they are registered with the Jewellers Association here so that should be fine. Having said that I highly doubt you will get wholesale pricing. A lot of jewellers advertise that and it's blatant rubbish.

If you want a better cut stone then try Good Old Gold, James Allen, Victor Canera, Engagement Rings Direct, Whiteflash and Brian Gavin in the US. If you want to stick with one in Australia that has reasonably price Hearts and Arrows stones then try this;

I have personally dealt with Victor, Brian Gavin, James Allen and Jewels By Erica Grace without drama. With the current exchange rate and taxes and charges buying from the US should cost around the same amount, possibly if you haggle a whisker less, but you will have far more options available to you. I have been told BlueNile has an Australia branch now as well, they are usually cheaper than everyone else.

Alternatively paste the stats of what you find here in Australia ie the certificate of the stone they find for you and everyone on here will try and find you something better. Try and steer away from EGL certificates if you can too, GIA is always better and more reliable.

Oh wow, thanks for all the helpful replies and advice! Our budget is 10k to 12k for a 1ct princess cut set on a 2mm band with 7 2pt shoulder stones either side (total 14 shoulder stones going just over halfway around the band). I've got teeny hands and I found that this look best on me.

Diamond Line is offering a 1ct princess cut E colour, SI2 in the setting that I want for $7200 total, which when compared to the 10k, 11k price points I was told at BM shops in Melbourne (we seem to pay double for everything in Australia) seemed too good to be true - hence this post.

Which lab graded it E SI2?

It depends who graded the diamond. As arkieb posted GIA is better. There are other labs that do the grading which may be a bit more lenient. So an E grading from IGI or EGL May mean G/H. The clarity may be different as well. They grading guides are not be as stringent as GIA. This also helps retailers sell E grade diamonds when they may be truly an H. More money for a lower grade diamond.

If u have done research to say its2x the price in Melbourne, then it pays to start a new thread with your specs to buy online and then pay the GST when it hits AUS. You will still come out on top- better diamond for lower price.

it's GIA certified. The inclusion is just off centre when viewed through a loupe but its eye clean. To me, colour was more important than clarity but happy to bow to superior knowledge!
