Anyone heard from Tan in the last week?

Update on combining shipping: I finally got them to combine it! after about 5 emails to both support@ ody... and support @ gemb..., i tried another route.

I "contact member"'d them from an ebay listing, put in all the item numbers,Told them I bought 8 stones total, told them Tan usually combines shipping for $20 DHL Express shipping, and asked for a single invoice.

They initially sent me the 6 for odyssey, so i sent another email asking for the other two shipping to be combined with that one as well, and they responded!

So hopefully these 8 little ones will be in my hot little hands by next week!!

The stone is rather "sleepy" in person and I was hoping that the inclusion would not be so apparent IRL since it was listed as SI. Hate to say it, but I would not have bought the stone for the starting bid price if I saw it in person. Now I have to hassle with sending it back........ This is why I just don't like to buy from overseas sellers. However, I was pretty impressed with my stones from the Ebay seller Pranomgemstones...

I have paid for my purchase including a AIGS memo, and they replied that that will take a month. I send them couple of emails asking for confirmation but to no avail. I dislike all these uncertainties. I am seriously putting off some purchases, at least for now.

aww Cushion, that's a bummer. i've purchased quite a few stones from him and only had to return 1 because the window was way too apparent in person. beautiful color tho, i was sad.

They require registered mail, which ends up being around $11-15? I dont know how much you paid for the spinel, but is it even worth it?

I just hope the spinel I bought from him is not overtreated. It is too beautiful, like a candy. There is something strange in the whole situation, I am naive to ebay, maybe it happens all the time there?

ForteKitty, it is like a red transparent candy. I never saw such a red color in a spinel. Before I post it, I want to show it to some people and ask what they think of it. Again, it looks very much like Uppy's spinel. Let me look at it for several days before I post pictures. It was not from ebay, it was from his Odyssey store.

And to make myself perfectly clear - when I mentioned "strange situation", I was thinking of Tan's disappearance, not of spinel.

No worries. I thought I would take a chance with them and the auction ended with me paying a bit more than what I would want to so it is worth the return. I have never spent too much on overseas seller, therefore I have never returned anything so hopefully the return process will go smoothly even if it takes some time for them to receive. I am glad you have had good luck with them though. I have seen some really gorgeous stones purchased from them on here so I know that they can deliver some real beauties.

Well, the stones keep on coming promptly. This being said, I buy only small inexpensive stones for my new project.

Most of e-mails I got from him recently were barely legible but one was written in perfect English. Maybe he's still around?

I was taling to jewelry4 you re. setting my pink spinels in earrings and a ring. Also, I bough 4 almost identical princess-cut chrysos from Tan and I am thinking of a very interesting pair of earrings. At least I hope they will be interesting!

Also, I am thinking of sending smaller bright but inexpensive stones to silversmith on etsy or someone working in the same style and just getting several nice rings.

God...now I have to run to my jeweler to show him my sapphires and ask if he is interested in working with them. Wish me good luck!

I've stopped buying in the last week and am waiting on shipping on several stones. I have one set that should have arrived last week, hopefully they are just delayed enroute. I had no real response to questions but my auction shipping did get sorted out on three stones from two of his stores. They should be here in a week or two.

I have bought from them before, a chocolate opal, almost a year ago, and saved the seller. I recently went back to look at the seller again at home and got the same warning on Chrome. I am at work now, and didn't get any warnings. I think it's because they link the pictures in their descriptions.

Oh that is terrible, I hope he gets better soon and comes back. I have been holding off buying anything until he comes back. He is so helpful and friendly. Whoever is running the store now is nice and helpful as they can be but their knowledge is very limited. I noticed that more of the newer listings are coming out misspelled and the descriptions are a little more out there then usual. Also they are clarity grading the cabochon gems, before they were all called translucent, now I'm seeing VS1, SI1, etc...
