Anyone heard from Tan in the last week?

I was in the midst of asking about a stone when he stopped responding. This was last wednesday night. His last emails says that he will continue tomorrow because he knows it's really late where I am. (it was about 1am)

He knows I can't decide between two stones and I've bought a lot of stones from him recently so i'm not just asking for the heck of it. I've sent 2 emails since then to see if maybe he missed it somehow... and i'm kind of confused here?

Is he gone somewhere?

in the upper right it will say either "I'm online" (as it does right now) or"I'm offline", meaning that he is available through skype. If you have skype you can talk to him that way.
 
I had not heard from him for several days despite a few messages...he's ill. I had a note yesterday that he was in the hospital. Hope whatever is up is not too serious! He must have some help, but I think their English is not quite as good as his.

Sorry I don't have more info...I didn't feel it was appropriate to ask more about his illness.

That's so funny, I just ordered a small (cheapie) stone from him on Saturday. I sure hope he's ok and feels better soon!

Ditto on this. Tan always calls me by my real name, not by my ebay handle, and his English is very good, so when I got some emails back from his stores, I knew that those responding were not the real Tan. They told me he is in the hospital, and I too hope it's nothing serious. Tan actually contacted me a few days ago, and that was the last I heard from him.
 
I hope he does well. A friend of mine who went to Thailand for a surgery told me they have great hospitals, in fact much better than here, and do not kick people out five minutes after they get better. Let us hope he is in good hands.

That's good to hear, I was a bit worried about that.

I haven't, but since he's in the hospital, i wouldnt expect him to respond to emails. he needs to get better!

I did receive a package from his store today tho. I bought some stuff the past few weeks and was waiting for the AIGS certs. looks like they came in a few days ago since the DHL slip was signed 9/6, so there are still people packaging and shipping items.
 
Any news from Mr. Tan? I am very much concerned about his health and I am concerned that people working for him are not responding to my e-mails about the order and it was an expensive order. Just no information. Silence.
 
I am having trouble getting a correct invoice for combined shipping on some inexpensive stones as well. Have tried three times so far with no success or reply since the one message regarding his illness. I hope he recovers soon and that they get someone in with enough english to go through the messages. I'm letting my other bids go as it's too hard right now to get things combined.

Yes, I'm holding off on bids too. I want to see Tan better, because I honestly don't know if the people running his store right now know what they're doing. I've also noticed they are not listing items correctly, and forgetful about putting the name of the stone species in the listing title, and I even saw a chrysoberyl listed as a sphene (the moh's hardness and no dispersion in the video gave it away). :shock: I got an incorrect tracking number for a stone from them, and I'm trying to hear back too.

TAN WHERE ARE YOU WHEN WE NEED YOU!!! I really do hope he gets better though, poor guy, like this is all he needs on top of an illness.

I wondered about that particular stone too when I was browsing this afternoon. It didn't look right to me either.
 
I finally got a response, and the correct tracking number for an item I bought, but this is what they said about Tan when I inquired if he was feeling better.

"Mr.Tan recovered, we can not tell you that he will come back when"

I take this to mean they don't know when he will come back. Well, at least he's feeling better, so that's a good thing.

I hope he feels better and comes back soon. There are a few auctions I am looking at and the responses from his staff/help haven't exactly been helpful. Tan always answers my detailed questions about his stones.
 
Sorry to hear that Tan is not doing well. I will pray for his full recovery. Wouldn't ya know that I won my first stone from Odyssey just a few days prior to this post. I hope that it is nice as the other stones that I have seen on here.
 
I too hope Tan makes a swift recovery.

It just goes to show how many of us rely on his helpful, kind and timely advice when buying from him.

CCN the majority of his stones are lovely and if not, he has a great returns policy so don't worry. I'm sure you'll get something lovely. Any clues as to what it is????? (It's my inherent nosiness I'm afraid :bigsmile: )
 
LOL! Thanks LD, I am glad that you wanted to see my purchase. I just want to say in advance...please don't judge it by the "schmutz" that you see as you know that the images/video is never like the stone as far as what you see IRL and the fact that the images are 300x the size. I thought this stone was worth taking the chance on so hopefully it will be worth the "winning bid" in person. I am already eyeballing a few Ebay seller settings to set it in. :naughty: If this stone is setting worthy.... mark my words, I will be happy to order from Odyssey again. I have to give creedence to the enablers on this forum though. :bigsmile: Without there input, I would not have bid on this stone......... :praise:

Tan is the person who runs (owner?) 3 websites on eBay: vvs1gems, gemburionline and odysseygems.
 
I don't think he is back yet, still having trouble combining some purchases. I hope he is resting and recovering well.

I did not get a response to an email either. I wonder if he's even coming back. I hope it's not a takeover of the ebay site. :errrr: ;(
 
That would just figure! I got my first stone from them today and I have to say the inclusion is quite disappointing. I was hoping that it wouldn't be so bad in person. I sent an email asking the best way to send it back. I really do hope Tan is o.k. and that he will be back soon....
 
I mailed off a stone last week. When I emailed to tell them I wanted to return, they responded within a day. They gave me instructions, and i haven't heard from them since, even tho i sent emails asking about combining a few items i purchased. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope everything goes smoothly w/ the return. They did say it will take a bit longer so to be patient.

As for combining the purchases, i'm not paying until i hear from them. If they don't want to combine shipping, I will pay for the shipping $ separately, but i want to hear something first, at the very least an acknowledgement that they got my emails!
 
I am having the same issue with shipping that you are. I feel bad not paying immediately though. :errrr:
 
If they dont want to, the least they can say is "no". They can answer my question on returns, they can answer my question on shipping!
