Have you looked at any of the other Toronto threads? Here are links to three that dealt with proposing:

Sorry, I have never been to Toronto so I can''t give you any recommendations. If there are any places that sound interesting to you, feel free to post your ideas. I''m sure you will get more knowledgeable responses soon.

I noticed those, i was just wondering if there were any nice outside places for the summer, as 2/3 were fall/winter posts, and one was in the spring.

Thanks for looking and pointing those posts out.

Casa Loma was mentioned in a previous post. It has some lovely gardens that would be suitable for a proposal. It''s very busy in the summer though, and your proposal would not be all that private.

There are a number of parks and gardens:

http://www.toronto.ca/parks/parks_gardens.htm

Unfortunately, I can''t really recommend any of them, since I don''t go to TO to visit a park or garden. We mainly go to shop, eat or go to a play or something like that.

Check out http://www.torontolife.com/ and http://www.toronto.com/section/attractions/

I was interested in going to a play/musical the day we go, but from the best of my searching nothing I have heard of (other then Blue Man Group, which i would not go to on the day of our engagement) is playing in Toronto.

Thanks for the info

Edwards Garden are alway popular, but busy. I like Casa Loma, but mostly at night when it''s less busy. You get a nice view from the top level of the parking lot of all places.

As for gardens, the Islands (west side by Yacht Club) is very nice. You can find a quiet place and the view is amazing. For something totally different the far end of the boardwalk in Scarborough has a old water treatment plant which is very architectural. For nature, the Leslie Street spit has a bird sanctuary, but it''s not that romantic.

My opersonal pic would be the island.

As for as a play or mucical, don''t forget the dinner theaters. Toronto has one of the highest live theater to population ratios around.

good luck

It looks like Mama Mia is ending this month, and the run for Ain't Misbehavin is short - ending in late June. There are other alternatives, but not necessarily in Toronto. There's the Shaw Festival, which is playing Gypsy

I think all of the productions are held in Niagara on the Lake, which is really very nice to visit, about 2 hours (a guess on my part) from downtown TO. NOTL might just be a great place for your proposal as well.

There's also the Stratford Festival, but I don't think that has a musical, located in Stratford, again about 2 hours from TO.

Of course, these options are only really viable if will be driving, and if you have loads of time.

Edited to add: Into the Woods is a Sondheim thing playing at Stratford...

I have been to niagara on the lake several times, that would be a viable option to toronto, would probibly just stick to niagara in that case, qw for the other festival, it looked to be farther out of the way then I would like to go, although my GF does like "Into the Woods". Perhaps I might stick to niagara on the lake, i for some reason over looked it.

I suggest buying your tickets early for any Shaw or Stratford festival show you might be interested in. These tickets go fast, particularly the ones held on the weekend.

NOTL is great, but can get pretty busy as well. If you are looking for a proposal spot I always thought that down by the edge on the shore of the Niagara River would be cool. You can get to it at the Glen or Whirlpool. It's a bit of a hike down, and back up, but you can walk along the shore and find a quiet place. Just don't slip in! Of course there's always Victoria Gardens by the Falls if you want to be more traditional.

hmm, maybe I should take her to the gorge/NOTL area for recon in a week or two. I havent been on the canadian side of the gorge in almost 10 years, and Havent been to NOTL in almost 3 years. It wont be to hard to convince her to take a weekend trip there so i can see where everything is and what my option are.
