Thanks for everyones response.

I''ll be visiting good old gold this weekend to take a look at the Sheldon Speyer setting. One question how are there diamond prices there?

After speaking with my gf, I''ve definitely found out more of what she does or doesn''t want.

- She want''s something Elegant with an old charm.
- A setting that doesn''t have diamonds lined up around the band to distract from the center stone.
- Round stone

Any more leads in the NY area or online would be great since I''ll be there Saturday.
Does she mean she doesn''t want diamonds on the band at all?

I''ve finally taken peoples advice regarding taking my gf ring shopping. It definitely has shed some light to what she kind of likes.

She is very interested in a setting that has more flow or curves that straight edges. An example of what she likes is in the link below:

- She doesn''t like baquets and actually may be interested in stones in the band as long as it doesn''t take away from the center stone.

How about something like this? Same basic design, but with very pretty (and non-distracting) diamonds in the band:
Vatche Royal X-prong with round channel

Or just go with the solitaire, and maybe pair it with a channel-set or shared-prong wedding band for a very classic and beautiful look.

I can''t believe summer is nearing it''s end and I''ve taken a break from looking at engagement rings.

I''ve recently saw a few settings that may be possible candidates from Vatche and Tacori:

What are your thoughts on these? The question I have regarding the Vatche with Pave, do you think they would take to much attention from the center stone?

Any comments would be appreciated as I''m hoping to make a purchase this week.

From reading your last posts, we know she likes the style of the X-Prong.

Now, you say she may like stones on the shank, if they don't take away from the center stone. It would help if we knew for sure, in making a suggestion. I happen to have the plain X-Prong, for the same reason. I wanted the stone to have center stage. It's just my opinion that any stones on the shank distract some....

I normally like engraving, but the pics here aren't thrilling me. It may just be the quality of the photo....While I think the pave X-Prong would be very pretty, and my personal choice out of the 3, if she wants total attention on the center, and you're not positive if she wants anything else, I'd get the plain one like I have.

If you really think she'd want more than the plain, I'd go for the pave.

If you could ensure she is ok with sidestones, that pave X-prong is my favorite of the settings you''ve shown us.

I really like #2 and #3. I think they are beautiful choices. I''m sure she will be ecstatic to be getting engaged!

She likes the idea diamonds sprinkled around the band and that''s why I was thinking of the Pave.

is the only difference between the royal x-prong and x-prong that the it tapers off at the shank?
Would these settings stay flush with a wedding band?

I just found another post in here regarding a new vatche setting:

Do you know if this is in production?

Its been hard looking for an antique-inspired setting with elegance. I showed her some Tacori settings she thinks it''s to much.

Yes, the royal tapers, and it has 6 prongs, as opposed to 4 with the regular x. Not sure if you know what she wants in that dept. (prongs), or if she cares, but some are very set on what they want. I loved the Royal, but wanted 4 prongs, so went with the reg.

I bought a plain WG band to go with mine, I didn''t want the matching one, and it sits flush with it. I would think it would with the other too.

Pics

I''m not sure, I "think" that setting is in production. I''d ask GOG or Wink Jones, they both sell D''Vatche.

When you said she like the idea of diamonds "sprinkled" on the band, I immediately thought of this. It may not appeal to you at all, but though I''d throw it out there.

My vote would be the plain x-prong with a diamond wedding band.

I just wanted to thank everyone for helping through the selection process. I decided to go with Vatche swan setting that I just recieved this week and I think it looks great. I would like post pictures, but I don''t know how.
