Folks:

Here are the first pics of the Engagement Ring that I have asked many questions about. These pics are not the best, probably because I was having a hard time taking pics without the brilliance of the diamond making the pictures look very blurry. I have an 8.0 megapixel Canon PowerShot. Does anyone have any ideas on how to take good pics? If so, pelase let me know and I will take more pics. I would just like to say that in my opinion, these pics do not get close to doing the ring justice. It turned out a lot better than I anticipated. I am quite pleased. When she gets the ring, I am sure she will be pleased also. Thanks for all the help!

One last question, should I have put this on Rocky Talk instead of on Show Me the Ring? It seems that I see folks put rings over there all the time. Thanks!

Last one for now. Once I get some direction on a better way to take pictures, I will post more.

Very pretty!

Put the camera in Macro mode...it''s usually the flower icon.

Orbaya,

I am guessing you mean the tulip looking icon. I will try that. Thanks for the advice. I also learned that I need to try and avoid a lot of light coming directly down on the ring. Wow, I never knew photography was so involved!

Can''t wait to see additional pictures of the ring. Even in the blurry ones I can see that your ring is gorgeous!

Pretty ring!

thanks. i got it from a local B & M in Baton Rouge, LA. If you know anyone in south Louisiana, tell them to check out Anton''s Fine Jewerly (Coursey Blvd). i ''lucked'' up and got to work with the owner, who was knowledgeable and most importantly not pushy. My GF and I looked at several settings there based on her criteria. She ''claimed'' to not like rings with diamonds on the side, but once she saw this setting, the others became irrelevant. I will have to look at my receipt to see what designer makes the setting, but I know that it had to be special ordered in Platinum and that it took 7 weeks for it to get back. Now I am seriously considering getting a special box made for the presentation (proposal).

Best wishes for the proposal!

Here are the pics that the jeweler took! These are not much better than the ones I took, but maybe you can get a better idea. I asked the jeweler to keep the ring for me until mid-May when I need it. Please feel free to share your honest opinions!

I have a cousin who is a photographer. Once I take possession of the ring, I will get him to take better pics for me.

It looks beautiful! I can''t remember which diamond you finally picked, or the stats. I love the setting! I think we need more stats, STAT!

Ditto! How sad for that pretty ring to sit at the jewelers!!!

Taking pictures just takes a little practice. You need to learn to use the macro. Natural light is easiest to deal with at first.
