Alexandrite Russia

I was only joking; the perspective in some of the photos makes it look like it is being held right over the flame.

I understood your joke, it was held near flame. The stone is dark, so the red color is almost impossible to capture.

"Oh, not again" is exactly what crosses my mind when I see your ridiculous claims, mate!

For all those who have similar comments about this stone, please post your photos of Alexandrites, in different lights, so we can learn something new. expected comments like this. just trying to post something educative for all those who haven"t seen stone like this. why so serious?

1. Alexandrites are rare gemstones and those of Russian origin are extremely rare and expensive that nobody would sell/buy one without a lab report from a reputable lab. If that is a Russian Alexandrite, then I'm the Pope.

2. I don't need to own an Alexandrite in order to comment on this topic.

If you hadn't told me, l wouldn't have known that Russian Alexandrites are extremely rare and expensive. Of course you don't have to have Alexandrite to discuss it, but you are expected to have at least seen it. I'm really not interested in further discussion. All the best, l hope that we will see your Chrysoberyl. First of all, you should be a good photographer. And who said l bought it?

I apologise for jumping on this thread but (a) how do you know it’s Russian? It doesn’t look like it is and (b) if you hold an Alex to a candle even the worst Alex will change colour! The “red” actually isn’t red from your photos, it’s a brown which some will change to. If you look at my avatar that’s an eye clean 3ct Alex with green to red/purple colour change.

I suggest if you want to see photos of Alexandrites you literally search this forum OR look for the learning post I wrote on them.

l don

I don't know your slang and abbreviations and don't want to learn it, sweat dreams about your Alexandrites

I already bought a ticket to travel to Madagascar and you brought me down to earth. Congratulations, you know something about photography. What is origin of your Alexandrite at your avatar?

I hope you’re not going to Madagascar to look for Alex because you won’t find any!

You haven’t answered my question as to why you think this is Russian?

Yeah, this caused a big kerfuffle on the forum before, under a different screen name. IIRC, someone came in to "defend" her against all the meanies, after some of her more contentious posts had already been removed. I've reported it because I don't think we need multiple threads of this nonsense again. It doesn't end well! :eek-2:

Here is a picture of a narwhal offered to me for sale by a very reputable zookeeper, comes with certificate. What, you say it's NOT a narwhal? How do you know? Do you OWN a narwhal yourself? Have you ever even SEEN a narwhal? Not looking for negative comments, only wish to show this NARWHAL for education purposes.
