Hi everyone,

Can I please get advice on diamond GIA 1229664439? I have not viewed the stone in person, photo is attached but I have been told that ASET and Idealscope images are unavailable. Is it a reasonable choice for ~USD$5000?

My other option is GIA 521637809, I have viewed this stone in person and it looks like it has good fire and brilliance, however I do not have a photo and the vendor did not have an ASET or Idealscope either. It is labelled as a H&A stone, I have looked at it through the viewer and it appeared to be good quality but I'm not very experienced in using it! It is about $700 more expensive than the first option.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

I cannot comment on particular diamonds that you are considering due to forum rules, but I can tell you that the GIA Report number 521637809 is not in the GIA online database, so perhaps you have the number wrong?

Cannot comment on the second stone, but that 0.9c E VS2 very reasonable at $5k, though I wish it had more spread (6.20mm+), but very promising.

Thank you for the feedback re: posting (very obvious I'm a newbie!)

The vendor isn't able to obtain any further images for the first diamond and I'd have to pay to order it in (I'm from Australia)

This is the correct link to the second diamond GIA 5216378093 report:
http://www.gia.edu/cs/Satellite?reportno=5216378093&c=Page&childpagename=GIA%2FPage%2FReportCheck&pagename=GIA%2FDispatcher&cid=1355954554547&encryptedString=DBC28A8F02C1FF0DB50BB50F480818FF

0.91c F SI1, depth 61.9%, table 57%, crown 35 deg, pavilion 40.6 deg

The ideal scope image is below but unfortunately it was taken at an angle so not sure if it'll be any help

I'm also considering a third option, GIA 1225735974, 0.9c D SI1, depth 62%, table 55%, crown 35 deg, pavilion 40.6 deg (approx AUD$440 more than the 0.91c F SI1)
http://www.gia.edu/cs/Satellite?pagename=GST%2FDispatcher&childpagename=GIA%2FPage%2FReportCheck&c=Page&cid=1355954554547&reportno=1225735974

I've requested ideal scope/ASET images but haven't received any yet as the diamond is overseas

Many thanks for any advice!

The IS image shows some leakage at 4/5/7/8 o'clock positions under the table because the diamond is tilted down. This is expected. If you decide to go with this option, check the stone again thru the IS and ensure there is no leakage.
All three are potentially good; nothing wrong with the numbers.

Normally, members here ask you.. Why high color? G/H color is generally safe and very popular, unless you or your partner really wants a colorless stone.

With 6k USD budget, many would go with 1.0c H/G SI1 instead.

Just providing you with more options and things to consider

We had a look at some 1.0c G/H but small finger size meant carat size wasn't as big a factor

On another note, the setting we are going with is similar to this http://www.brilliantearth.com/Petite-Twisted-Vine-Diamond-Ring-White-Gold-BE1M54D-1152773/?utm_expid=1332916-143.jwE0Nx3VTreaH-orQ9mv-g.0&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com.au%2F

We are getting a local jeweller to custom make it (most likely platinum) and am wondering if it's best to get a straight wedding band or a fitted one that follows the curves of the engagement ring? Would there be any problems with a straight band rubbing against the twisted band and causing wear?

Hey, in terms of fitted vs straight band, it depends on how the person is going to be wearing the rings and how often. If they are going to be worth together frequently, I would get a fitted band to help minimize the scratches and wear. If they will only be worn separately, then it doesn't matter.
