Hey guys,

I found a setting I like however I was wondering if any knew of any other settings that look similiar to the ones posted from James Allen.
http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/2-2mm-0-54ctw-Common-Prong-Ring.html

Positives of setting:

Mini cathedral
Sidestones common prong
4 prong claw head

Things I am worried about:

2.2mm width for a 1.10Carat Diamond. Do you think it will look unproportioned, as I have no idea how it will look.

Wish List:
Diamonds on the side of the band
More prononced diamonds on the side of the common prong setting.

What does everyone think of a Common prong sidestones tapering to center stone? Any thoughts?

FYI. Now I have seen the Petite Open Cathedral from Whiteflash however I would greatly appreciate some insight into the matter as well.

I honestly don''t think that a 2.2mm shank will look unproportional to your 1.10 carat round. I think it''d make your diamond pop some more and make it appear bigger. Here''s a thread of something similar from a few other psers.

Darthkim''s 1.3 carat in a Gabriel&Co setting: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/tiffany-novo-fan-blue-nile-nouveau-vs-good-old-gold-gabriel-co-vs-de-beers-forever-pave-or-db-c.107805/page-2

My brother placed an order for this setting and his diamond is a 1 carat. The shank for this Gabriel&Co is 2.2 as well.

Thank you for the post? Are cathedral settings a non classic look. I noticed on GOG top 7 selling settings, not one was a cathedral. My gf sent me a picture of the type of setting she like however I am unable to determine if there is a gap like BN Nouveau, cathedral from JA, or Gabriel and Co from GOG. Any thoughts

The site is from Ben moss, it was a simple solitaire however I am going with the sidestones. Any thoughts need some advice?

Hi Hoost,

In my personal opinion, cathedral settings are always classic. But everyone has their own personal preferences. That''s probably why the top selling settings were not cathedral when you looked at the site. Also, engagement rings don''t always have to be cathedral for the wedding bands to sit flush to it without having any gap. There may be a very tiny tiny gap or you could have one that''s considered a straight setting like the ones found in the gabriel&co website. We''re actually working with ID Jewelry for the same Gabriel&Co ring you found in GOG. I admire GOG diamonds all the time but the same setting you''re looking at there is better priced at ID Jewelry.

Here''s the link: http://www.idjewelryonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=42_47&products_id=4061&cType=ER

We''ve been working with Luann and she''s been awesome!

I think you can''t go wrong with any of those settings you were looking at! Good luck with your search! I hope I was able to help some.

I think cathedrals are very classic! As for that particular setting, I think it will look great with a 1 ct stone, though if you're worried about proportions, there's a 1.9 mm version as well (I have the 1.9 for a 1.22 ct. sapphire and I love the proportions - but I'm a fan of very dainty bands in general).

Ok well I really like the BN Nouveau now as well however does the head in real life have the prongs go as high as they do in the rendered picture. It is an aggressive V shape when compared to the JA 0.54Ctw setting. What are people''s thoughts on the two settings. Does the James Allen 0.54 common prong 2.2mm butt up nicely with the matching band as well as the BN nouveau does. Are they both equally timeless and when comparing it with what the gf''s taste, what do you think would be the better route. She liked the Ben Moss one but wanted something slightly different (sidestones) however with classic feel

Both rings are beautiful, timeless, and classic. I don't think you could go wrong in picking either. If I was in your shoes, I would compare how many side diamonds there are in each setting. BN has 16 side diamonds while JA has 18. I think minimun tcw is higher for the JA. Then I would compare the price for the engagement ring and the wedding band together. Afterwards, I'd make my decision. Personally, I'd go for the JA setting. Will you be purchasing your diamond from the same place you purchase your setting from or do you already have your diamond? Also, I am purchasing my wedding band from JA and they gave me a 10% coupon code. If you go for JA, [Removed by Moderator] See forum policies on the coupon code and save some more money. I believe the code works for engagement rings and wedding bands...or could be just for about anything in the website. I'm not sure just how long the code will be valid though. Good luck!

Thanks for all the posts everyone!

Luckyshe: I was going to buy the diamond at either BN or JA depending on where I purchase the setting. I was origionally for BN in the beginning until I found JA and there H&A collection. My only concern I have know is I want to make sure that there is little to no interference between the wedding band recommended and the engagement setting with (1-1.20) carat diamond.

Does anyone have any other pictures or the two bands and can anyone further assure me with which to go for since in my mind it really is a dead lock.

Anything?
