I wish I had done a bit more research but we have put a deposit on this diamond though now I’m not sure about it. The diamond looks eye-clean and was quite sparkly in this shop.

The HCA score is 3.8 with table size and crown angles being larger than ideal specs on various websites.

Would love your opinion if I should keep this or continue looking?

Thanks!

I am new but I think you should keep looking for 2~3 stones with better hca score for comparison.
Don't make your decision in hurry : )

You cant get an idealscope or aset on it can you?

Looks like you found the HCA and you know the ranges we try to stay in. A lot of stones look sparkly in the jewelry store. More ideal proportions should
help it perform decent in more environments.

Whoa thanks to all.

Before I return the diamond, just wondering about the following..

Have been reading up on various websites and not sure if my understanding is correct.. Do correct me if I’m wrong!

Based on the bigger table, the diamond will look brighter?
Based on the wider crown angle, poorer light performance? People around might see fire while wearer won’t?

I’ve been playing around with the HCA and considering that the GIA rounds off the table/crown values, there are combinations that can lower the HCA slightly (still not within ideal range though).

I do not have the ASET/IS but based on the H&A loupe I was shown, the hearts/arrows were very clearly defined and symmetrical. Is it possible that there still might be light leakages despite this?

As the diamond costs about USD15k, I wonder if this is a good price for this specs?
