Just for inspiration: PS member Nymphettamine has a beautiful oval in a halo. She will receive her ring from Victor Canera in the coming days, but she posted a teaser. Hers is a 1.5 ct oval.

Wow, that's a lucky girl, gorgeous!

If I do a halo, it will be a halo peg head, meaning I can always switch back to a solitaire. I don't want to be locked in with a new, expensive halo setting. I love my setting.

I'm thinking I will face a problem though, as my oval is 7.95 x 5.17. I think most halo heads come as 7 x 5 or 8 x 6. The 8x6 will leave small gaps on the sides and the 7 x 5 will be covered a the top and bottom more than the sides.

Also, do I have the diamond set completely flush, or slightly raised? I like being able to see my diamond but I'm not sure what would look best.

The halo will have to be delicate, like 1 pointers.

One pointers are not going to be delicate for that that stone. I'd go with half pointers. I said it before, but I think a halo will detract from that stone. It is the best oval I've ever seen on PS. Who are you thinking of to make the halo?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your ring as it is! In fact, it even makes me contemplate getting an oval and set exactly like yours! It looks elegant, delicate and beautiful.
I want to add that it is also unique, at least to me. Around here, I do not see many oval solitaires and yours would really turn my head. On the other hand, halos are so common, that I rarely turn to look at them these days.

Thanks so much!! Get an oval!! Let's bring ovals back! :).

I think braga123 makes a good point - I vote with her!

Ok, see this is the type of info I need! Thanks! I will ask to see half pointers. My setting is from Jared but I do not like working with them at all. I have their lifetime dipping plan though and I wonder if I change the head with another jeweler if that will void my warranty. That would not be good. I may call and ask because I'd much prefer to go with a different jeweler that I trust.

Honestly I think it might be more practical to get a relatively inexpensive halo and just save your setting for if and when you want to switch back.

I voted no. That stone is just AMAZING. It does beautiful things all on it's own.

I didn't vote as I think it's really a personal preference. I own an oval solitare and went through what you are going through with getting a halo or not and ultimately decided against it. I think your stone is beautiful alone and agree with previous posters that adding stackers might help add the extra oomph you are looking for. I would also suggest the possibility of setting it E/W-it might give you the horizontal finger coverage without adding a halo. Best of luck with your decision!

I think it looks gorgeous as is. However, if you wanted to add something a little extra, what about a delicate split shank?

Something like this stunning split shank from Danhov? I believe James Allen carries that designer's line.

That's a gorgeous setting!! Unfortunately, I can't afford a new setting, since mine was pretty pricey ($1700). :/

Thank you! I've been looking at stacker rings on etsy. That might give me the little something extra that I need. I will also look at some delicate halo heads. If only they were interchangeable lol.

Thanks for the links! I love the pave leaves eternity rings! I wonder if I could still do that with a halo, hmm.
