About to pull the trigger 2.5 J-VS2 Royal Chandelier Antique

Attached are the images from the website and AGS Lab image. It is a black ASET image. It will take too long for a white ASET image. Thoughts? The diamond is $20,300. Also, my gf wants to put a halo around it, since it is a J should I ask for lower color diamonds so that it does not create too much of a contrast?

She is such a lucky girl. Dont worry about the different in the halo setting. After all, the rock still outshines that halo anyway!

Beautiful! And, yes, I would ask for I or J color sidestones (assuming they are very well cut) as it will minimize contrast in many lighting conditions. I have done this with both with my previous ering and in helping to pick out my friend's ering, and it was a great choice in both cases.

Thanks. Well I guess I"ll pull the trigger. Such a big decision. Once I get it, it is off to Victor so I'll post pictures afterwards. Would using I or J diamonds on the Halo make the diamond look dull at all? Should I go with a higher color for the Halo diamonds? When I talked to him he stated he was going to use 1.1mm diamonds.

Dullness is more about cut than color. If you do not think your ideal cut, 2.5 J cushion looks dull because of its color, you probably won't think well cut round J color melee sourced by VC will look dull either. Truthfully, I never noticed a difference in my J color melee compared to the melee in others' rings. I only noticed that there wasn't as stark a contrast between my K center stone and the J melee as there was when I looked at my center stone sitting in the stock setting at the jeweler when I was originally choosing a setting.

There is another perspective to consider. Some people like a little contrast between the center stone and the halo, especially with antique stone. Do you think your SO might like seeing a bit of contrast?

I hope so? She did choose an antique cut to make the center cut stand out from the surrounding diamonds. Only reason why I brought it up was that I was at a store and the lady had an "I" diamond with "D" diamonds on the Halo. I didn't notice the color contrast until she brought it up but when she did there was a stark difference. I would prefer to have the contrast be darker diamonds with a brighter center cut than the opposite.

But, seeing how you cannot see a difference between J and K, maybe I should not get "D"s in the halo and maybe drop to an H or I. Based on the light performance report, it looks like it will shine brightly and should face up white. We'll see I guess. I should just be happy and not worry too much about it but it's hard.

Ditto this! And the truth of the matter is, no matter what color the center stone or the color of the melee in the halo, at times the melee will look whiter simply because they are small, well cut, round brilliants designed to flash a lot of white light. It's almost inevitable.
I only suggested lower color melee to blend better with the center stone in those lighting conditions where it would make a difference, and because it seemed you were concerned about contrast. So, as Arkie said, ask Victor. Your amazing center stone will pop, and I am sure the ring will also look amazing!
