First, I want to thank everyone for the guidance, experiences, and opinions that have been shared with me. I sincerely believe, had I not had this resource to help educate and then bolster/confirm my own thoughts on the stones, on what I was seeing, that the local jeweler's sell-tactics Saturday may well have found me second-guessing myself right into the arms of that 1.52 stone he was pushing. Frankly, even with the knowledge and support, I could still feel his words trying to nurture doubts as to whether I knew anything at all. So, again, thank you.

Second, I want to say that the 1.85 came from Good Old Gold. David, there, was a very active, helpful, and timely email partner, providing plenty of images, videos, and his personal thoughts on what he was seeing with what was coming his way. My experience with them was a good one.

Please come back with pictures for us - so glad that you were able to learn and feel comfortable with the diamond you selected! That's what PS is all about!

I'll surely post pictures here of the finished product! In the meantime, a bit later, I'm going to post a request for design suggestions/ideas/vendors to consider (now that my vendor spot is clear).

And thanks, @Karl_K. I've appreciated your willingness to frequently serve as expert the room.

Congratulations! Looking forward to pictures of the finished product!!

So how do you want to set the stone? What is your setting budget? How picky are you about the level of craftsmanship, very fine heirloom quality or decent/good enough from a distance? What style do you prefer, more vintage or classic or modern?

It's so crazy how even when know better going in, those tactics can still find a foothold. It's happened with me too.
