So we aren't sold on the name Sherlock, and he's young enough to change it, but haven't been able to pick a better one for him.

Suggestions appreciated.

Here's the thread where I introduce him (has personality and pics):

Ahh... see you've never met my husband. The two of you would probably get along. If I even suggested that he'd shorten it to PS... Psssssssss.. .and eventually one of that cat's nicknames would be piss.

If I even TRIED to explain his nickname for me to you... it would take serveral pragraphs.

Hmm... I'm not getting French. I'm getting young and slim with it. He'll fill out. Although Charlemagne would be a cool name. A really cool name. Or Alexander. The name of a conquerer. I have great things in mind for this cat *rubbs hands together evilly*

My SIL has two Cairn terriers. With a "nod" toward Sherlock, they are called Murdock and Watson.

Lots of great suggestions here. Murdock. Merlin. Merlin makes me think of Arthur though. I'm liking Arthur.

When I first saw his picture I thought Mouse. I dont know why...

You could name him Blanc-to keep with the French-ness

My pick for a name is Samson

LMAO. Duncan is Prince Mitty. He's the top of the royal food chain so I can't displace him. But that got a real laugh out of me . =)

Dragonfly... Mine are in the thread linked. At the top of the first page is Sherlock. And the bottom are my other four.

So John likes Merlin. Or another wizard, magician name.

What do you guys think of Harry (as in Houdini and Potter and Desden)? Too bland? I'm really liking kinda liking it.

I am pro-Merlin though. We've got a Frodo, so another 'character' name works.

I was also just thinking of name him Wizard. But the nicknames aren't any good.

I had a cat that looked like this one, only female, and her name was Spanky. A friend had a cat like that when we were young and his name was Pilsner.

The Senor suggestion made me laugh-if he had a little smudge under his nose I would totally choose that.

How about..Paul. Or Little John. Aslan? (you've got a Lucy and they're both Lion/Witch/Wardrobe characters)

Are you wanting more fancy, like Finian, or something to go w/the other names, like Merlin goes w/Frodo etc or..If you name him Wizard you can call him Wizzy and sing We're off to see the wizard. Or call him Oz. Toto?

Jareth? He wasn't so much a wizard as the Goblin King but haha yeah David Bowie in tight pants woo!

ohhh hahahaha I just read thru the other suggestions again and Alfonse is so funny. Davi, you make me laugh!

Um..Mister or Fellow. Those are names I have picked out for a male puppy. I think they're cute.

We are fostering a solid white cat right now, and we named in Gandalf. Actually I wanted to name our solid grey cat Gandalf when we got him, but FI said it was too nerdy.

Then he decided that it would be a good name for the white cat.

I'm glad to see we're not the only ones with a thousand nicknames for our cats. What about Luigi? I totally want to name a cat that.

He's so handsome! What a love.

He looks like an "Angus" or a "Steve" to me. Ooh, or "Melvin".

I grew up with two white kitties, they were wedding gifts to my parents. They came named Duke and Princess. I loved them so.

ETA: I just read your last post--I LOVE Harry. He totally looks like a Harry to me.

My brother in law's all white cat's name is Alpine, which I like for a white kitty.

I had a tuxedo kitty when I was a kid named Alexander, we called him Xander most of the time. Still one of my all time favorite kitty names!

(My kitties also get zillions of nicknames. In fact one definitely superceded the "real name". Our tiny weird cat is Rat 99% of the time, but was named Rascal originally. Now only the vet calls him Rascal I'm pretty sure!)

Well ... I reckon you're not gonna like these but ... I always think its hysterical when pets have official sounding names.

i.e.

Officer
Padre
Doctor
Professor

and my personal fave

Guvn'r (the southern shortened version of Governor)
