Hello, first time poster here. I''ve searched the internet for help finding a custom ring and this appears to be the place. I''m looking for a ring with a round brilliant and pear sidestones in a TRELLIS setting. I found this ring ( http://www.solomonbrothers.com/Search/JewelrySearchDetails.asp?sSKU=90287 ) posted in another thread and it is very close to what I want, however it is a bit above my budget (the ring is $5300 without the center stone and I am a college student). Thanks for any help in adavance!

Doesn''t seem like an emergency to me!

What IS your budget? I''m sure we can try and help you, but we need details first.

Well the emergency part is that I''m 3 weeks out. I have another ring picked out but she likes the trellis setting better. My budget is approx $5000 total. Thanks!

just based on google, i found this BUT do be VERY VERY careful buying from an individual seller and get an INDEPENDENT appraisal before the sale is final (that means not one from the seller or anyone else who sells jewelry). look up other individual sales in the archives -- it doesn''t always work out so well. but this looks like the exact setting.

Ahhhh, well you didn''t mention that in the first post. There go my ideas...they would all take longer than 3 weeks.

EDITED:

OOOPS sorry our posts crossed...Neat Freak and ENBCFSOBE you two found some really great options!

That ring is a Jeff Cooper. Although it is lovely and fluid looking, you are paying a premium for the brand. That style is one that can be easily duplicated at a much lower price- and often is. Of course there is nothing wrong with going with the Jeff Cooper...I just wanted you to be aware that you can still do that style. You may consider contacting one of the PS vendors and inquire what your budget can get you in size of stones and ring design.

At your budget you could get her a nice center stone...set in a solitaire setting and then later plan to insert it into her design and allow her to partake in the details. The pear purchase can be grueling and time consuming. You want the right cut, and color to compliment your center stone. Pears are lovely but can be difficult to find the right two. You don't want to end up with mixed fruit salad!!

You have pushed yourself into a corner, and you may not want to force the wish list into that small 3 week window of time.

I would put my effort into gettting her the highest quailty stone...and then come back for the frills.

do note that the ones i posted from pearlman''s are on clearance, and therefore only come in the listed size. if your gal''s finger is much larger or smaller than those sizes, it may not be able to be resized enough -- you''d have to check with the seller.

oooh -- i like the one staci posted.
in your budget, it might actually be best to get the setting done with stones in the size and color of your choice (not blue, green, etc gemstones, but the color of the diamond) so that the sides aren''t too far off from the center. at your budget, you''re probably going to need to go towards the middle ground for color in order to afford a 3-stone ring, and it would be odd if the center were much yellower than the sides.

I would definitely go with the knox that Staci posted. Knox is very reasonable and that setting looks perfect. Just ask for a qoute with diamond pears. What size center are you looking for?

I also love the Knox, but since it would be a custom piece, you need to GET ON IT if there is any chance of you having it in 3 weeks...

Holy Cow that''s beautiful!

Wow. You all are amazing. The knox ring is definitely the frontrunner. I have contacted them with requests for a quote as a mount and a semimount with pear sides. I have been working with a local jewler that is letting me hand select the diamonds so we can hopefully get a good color match. The trellis style ring that he has the ability to get is http://showroom.uniquesettings.com/view/3198 . However, the Knox ring looks better in my opinion. Again all of your input is greatly appreciated.

I definitely prefer the Knox setting. It sounds like you''re going to make it happen! Keep us posted on the details!

Just don''t keep them too busy. I just ordered a plain palladium shank from them and they quoted me two weeks. If it takes any more than that its going to be too late...and I think they will stick with the most expensive one first....

I def prefer the knox setting though.

if time becomes and issue, you might think about proposing with the diamond in a temp. setting and then having set in it''s permanent home when you''re not so rushed.

Good call as usual mrssalvo!

I love the Knox setting too...it''s one of my favorites on their website.

Let us know when you hear back from them. Hopefully they will be able to help you out within your time frame and for a price within your budget. mrssalvo brought up an excellent idea if time becomes an issue though...

Unfortunately Knox has quoted the completion at 3-4 weeks. The price is very reasonable but they said there was an 80% chance that it would be done in time. How would I go about getting a temporary setting? Thanks again!

As far as the setting goes...I don''t know if this is exactly what you are looking for but I think it could be within budget. It''s from Knox Jewelers. They do custom work and from I''ve seen on Pricescope, they are pretty reasonable in price and are very nice in quality...

I ditto this - and they can move very quickly too!

When I said quick I was thinking of Qwest - ask qwest for a quote/time frame.

A temporary setting is just the usual 4 prong or 6 prong tiffany style stock setting in white gold - relatively inexpensive at $200 or so.
