Tiffany makes about the lowest set bands other than Memoire. Theirs are very nice, low baskets with shared prongs. If you have a Tiffany nearby, you might want to go try one on and then you'll have an idea if you like it.

I should have mentioned that the current 7-stone is barset; lowset/safe, yes; but, after 17 years of wearing it I've grown tired of the look. I'm really loving the U-prong craze, but not at the expense of my prongs. The jeweler isn't open Mondays, but today I stopped by and looked at the setting I'm considering. It looks like the prongs jut out just enough so the ring will be metal against metal. Based on that I decided to go for it.
