Hi all :wavey:

I've been a long time lurker enjoying all the pretty eye candy and learning a lot about diamonds while waiting for my turn . My bf and I are at the stage where he's given me a budget to work with. Obviously I'd love to spend it all on an ideal diamond but in order to wear it, I do need a setting haha. To maximize the budget for the diamond, I'm hoping to find a setting that's $1500 or less with the following characteristics:

1) Platinum (I have a severe nickel allergy and for durability I think platinum is the way to go)
2) Cathedral setting
3) 6 prongs (or maybe 8??) for a round diamond (most likely around 0.8 ct) so I think a 6 prong would be good...not sure if 8 prong would cover too much of the diamond. I prefer 6 because I think it would make it more secure and I find 4 prongs seems to square the diamond.
4) An interesting basket (I love the look of more intricate looking baskets) and I find straight prong styles like Tiffany/Solestice styles just doesn't have to oomph that I am looking for
5) A basket that doesn't protrude too much from the base so that a straight wedding band can lay somewhat flush against the e-ring. It doesn't have lay completely flush, but mostly if that makes sense? I was originally considering Vatche's swan but I've seen posts of it with a straight band and it looks like there may be too much of a gap (seen at https://www.pricescope.com/communit...ing-wedding-band-s.192129/page-2#post-3501431 (the last photo) for my preference.
6) If possible, for the shoulders to taper up to the basket

I'm guessing with our budget, the most budget friendly option would be Stuller so I've been mostly looking at their website but it's been difficult finding settings that fulfill the above criteria...although I stumbled upon a few, I can't help but wonder if there are others and I just haven't found them yet.

My contenders so far:
1) Item #: 122990:606:p (6 prong)
2) Item #: 124137:104:p (8 prong)
3) Item #: 123663:607:p (6 prong...although I think the placement of the diamonds might rub against the band...thoughts?)
4) Item #: 123685:607:p (6 prong...I love the idea of the scalloped basket, but I don't love that the prongs are at 11 o'clock, 1 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 5 o'clock, 7 o'clock, 9 o'clock. I feel like prongs that are at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock make the diamond look larger....so I'm on the fence about this one)

Any other ideas or considerations that I should look at or have I probably found the only ones that that Stuller offers with the above criteria? Any thoughts on the above selections? I'd love to hear any opinions on them ie. potential durability or wear issues, if the placement of the side diamonds might fall out because of where it's located or if it would damage the band, etc.

I've attached photos of the setting.Potentals.jpg

Much appreciate the assistance!

My fiancé Went back and forth on 4 vs 6 prong cathedral style. We ultimately chose 4 for its simplicity, elegance. Depending on the design, 6 can get too busy with cathedral. More importantly six will likely make your stone look smaller. The aesthetic impact was noticeable on our 1.8ct stone, so for a 0.8 like you're contemplating I would go 4 prong.

Of the designs you're considering I like option 2.

That can be a consideration for sure! I'm thinking that if I get claw prongs that could help lessen some of the metal coverage issues.... Unfortunately I haven't found a 4 prong that I like and of the ones that
I've seen, I feel that it can make the round stone look more square.
