@galatie in my view, the new setting is beautiful. You are comparing two completely different shanks. BGD shank is rounded and thicker on the sides so that it doesn’t have to be as wide on the bottom. It seems very similar to T&Co’s ring that I tried on. Your e-ring seems to have thinner on the sides shank and wider base. You will need to measure them with a gauge to see if they are actually different.
I don’t understand if you are unhappy because it’s not what you envisioned or because the ring is uncomfortable? If the stones were pinched in closer together, the stones would spread wider across the top of your finger and will go into your adjacent fingers.
I think that you should wear the ring for a bit and see how you feel after some time before you start changing the setting.
